My Top Ten Favourite Iris Scott Finger Paintings

in #iris6 years ago

Brooklyn, New York-based artist Iris Scott is one of our favorites’ here at Blue Horizon Prints, growing up on a farm in Seattle Iris has no end of inspiration in the form of plenty of pets and beautiful surroundings, from a young age Iris poured over how-to-draw books to gain better insight into drawing realistically and learning the rules so that she could one day break them.

It wasn’t until 2010 when Iris was living in Taiwan that she discovered her unique talent as the first professional finger painter, in a moment of laziness with nothing but dirty brushes to hand Iris finished her painting with a finger daub of paint and loved the results! This is how history was made and how Iris manages to deliver such wonderful textured compositions time after time.

We have decided to show you our top ten pieces of work by this wonderfully talented and alternative artist and to tell you in short why we like them so much, if you haven’t done so already make sure you go to Iris’s category here and have a look at some of her fantastic masterpieces in print.

#10 Francesca
This is a pretty coming of age painting, it’s a teenage girls voyage of discovery and a magical one at that, some of us have experienced this childhood and some of us will dream about it.

#9 Past The Property Line
You will recognise ‘Francesca’ from the image above, this is a continuation of her adventure and perhaps a little more daunting at this point, the beautiful yet foreboding sky hints at the big unknown world past the edge of her childhood.

#2 Imidazalone
This is another atmospheric piece of work by Iris, she is so good at capturing a mood, a feeling that can transport you, this makes us think of winter logs burning on the grate as we look outside at the warm yellow street lights.

#1 Edge Of Canyon Road

We defy you not to love it, the sky, the clouds, the green of the rolling hills, everything is there, every bright, verdant, lush, detail that unites to create this breathtaking scene. Its that sky that we always say is beautiful but wouldn’t look real if you painted it, well it does when Iris Scott paints it.
