IPFS is also known as the Inter Planetary File system. It is a new hypermedia distribution protocol. It is addressed by the contents and identities.
It will enable the making of completely distributed application. It will make the internet faster, safer, open and more user friendly.
IPFS was originally designed by Juan Benet, and it is a open source project which is developed with the help of community.
It all started in year 2014 when it took advantage of Bitcoin block chain protocol and network infrastructure which will store unalterable data, remove duplicate files across the network.
It offer a high performance and content addressed block storage model. It is similar to existing world wide web (WWW), but can challenge it in future and can even replace it. It has very less chance of failure and has the power to decentralize the current internet system.
