Using the power of Blockchain, Taiwan's capital Taipei, which aims to be a smart city, has partnered with IOTA.

Taiwan's capital city, Taipei, wants to become a smart city using the power of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) or Blockchain. The city chose to establish IOTAILE partnership for this.

Wei-bin Lee, one of the executives of the city of Taipei, said in an official press release that the unique technology offered by IOTA will launch a new era of smart cities for Taipei citizens.

In the first stage, smart ID cards named TangleID will be created.

The first project in the file is the creation of ID cards built on IOTA's Tangle technology. This project, called TangleID, was designed to lift the risk of voter fraud with identity theft. The project will also provide a simple tool for other data on health history monitoring and state-related services.

IOTA is also already working to create a palm-sized card with sensors to detect light, temperature, humidity and pollution. The product aims to give Taipei citizens up-to-date information on the level of pollution in real time.

David Sønstebø, one of the founders of the IOTA Foundation, sees this as a big step forward, saying that "the use of technology in the real world is ready and beyond theory."1200px-Iota_logo.png
