Public IOTA Lab: Playground for the Internet of Things

With the Public IOTA Lab, a team of supporters of the IOTA ecosystem launches a test area for applications around the IOTA project. There it is now possible to test use cases and submit them yourself. It is not yet sophisticated, but there is already a first application.

The IOTA Foundation around Founder Dominik Schiener and David Sønstebø should be well known to most readers. For example, partnerships with large companies such as Bosch and VW have repeatedly attracted the attention of the Foundation. Ultimately, the project behind the MIOTA token and Tangle is also quite ambitious: providing the foundation for the Internet of Things. The voices of the critics are correspondingly loud. Often, the actual use cases are doubted, even the functionality of the Tangles is sometimes doubted by ambitious critics. But exactly those are interested with the Public IOTA Lab (which does not belong directly to the Foundation!) Now presented and made tangible.

Everything is still in the test phase

The Public IOTA Lab is a kind of playground for IOTA applications. On the homepage under the heading "real use case" you can now test a first application for the currency of the Internet of Things. The application is very simple: users have the opportunity to send MIOTA with a message to a specific address. Then the message will be displayed publicly and an animation will be launched to illustrate the renewable energy supply:

However, the Public IOTA Lab is explicitly a test environment for possible applications. Thus, the association emphasizes in the appropriate media post:

"Please excuse that many things are still a bit bumpy and unpolished. This is simply because of our limited financial resources, so we could not do everything as planned. We also apologize if something does not work out completely. However, our test runs have shown that everything works quite well. Despite these bumps, we decided to wait no longer and present the tool in this first version. We'll continue to work on improvements, and once the little tool is optimized, we'll of course make the code available on Github. "
