Finally got the time to meet you guys. I hope you all guys are doing well and living a happy-happy life! Okay, In the previous post we came to know what is NOT and how it is changing the way we use or interact with technology. IOT is a new entry in technology-based industries, debuted in 2008. However, IOT was there before 2008 and we all called it with different names or like - future technology. If you are a dev or a programming nerd then sometimes you had felt that design isn't your talk or just didn't give a damn to Design. Well, the design has literally redefined the way we see anything. And just because of advancement in design we came to know about - customizing world! In the expansion of IOT, the design has played a vital role similar to the software development and advancement.

Let's start with Apple

• Before the release of Apple iPods, we were using that big walkman's which were limited in terms of storage and in portability. Not even network oriented.
• Before walkmans we were carrying that big radio with us, though we look more amazing and hot that time but still that radio isn't that handy to carry.
• Before that radio's or stereo's, we were having some big jukebox or so at some specific place like in bars or restaurants, where one go and insert the track record that they want to play.
• And now we have our smartphone - ready to play anything and not just limited to the music or audio only. So in the span of 50 years, everything got smaller and smaller, more compact and portable. "NECESSITY IS THE SPARK OF INVENTION!"
• And in this miniaturization, the design was the key which made people buy it or even changed the way in which they are using that specific gadget.
• On October 31, 2001 - the way we were listening or enjoying our kinds of music started changing and we shifted to iPods which were more compact, network oriented and portable.

Features isn't, but design!

• Even though the products are still get compared on basis of their specifications - hardware and software, but the most important thing which made people buy that product is - Design!
• One more thing - designs are the first thing that people gets to see and the front end is what people understand, if they aren't specific they will not spare any pennies on specifications and all that geeky nerd stuff in a product.
• And when design started getting attention, we made a big branch of any product as design-phase! This category needs creativity and the way that dimensions can be used.
• You have heard about that story when Steve jobs threw the first prototype of iPod in the fish tank and the bubbles that were seen made the designers accepted that there is some unnecessary space that can be used or utilized.

How we relate it to IOT?

• IOT is simply a group of devices working together on Internet! These devices and their design show their future projection in terms of business or technical advancement.
• Sensors - Actuators ~ Overused terms in IOT. But not only this combo, the design has changed everything in a more bigger scope even if a product is IOT related or not.
• Laptops, smartphones, tablets, Smart TV's, etc are all the application of IoT-Design and the manufacturers are spending a lot to optimize and improve the way we use these products.
• Technology is getting more smaller and compact day by day. And with their reducing size, the cost to make them and the waste load that it produced while they are operational or dead is getting reduced.
• IOT is making us rethink the way we can create or implement design-phase in the manufacturing line. I will call it Design v2.0! Better with IOT.
