RE: The Future of the Internet of Things

Nice summary 😁

Personally I'm excited about where we might be in the next decade, but as always, this also puts out even more personal information to be tracked. As always, I have to have trust in the 'key-masters' to this data and how it will be used and/or sold.

It's sad that this trade off between the advancement of technology and the erosion of privacy is accepted so much now. I'd encourage you to rethink this position. We can do a lot ourselves to resist this and also group together to enact / demand changes and reforms.

Sort:

I'm not against the oncoming IoT and the collection of data in and of itself isn't a huge issue to me. My concern is more in the sense of how this massive database could easily be misused in the future. I don't think that it would be misused in the near future, but as time goes on the likelihood goes up that it will be. Ideally some sort of check can be in place to prevent this from occurring.

I'm not looking to inhibit progress, merely shedding light on potential issues that are also good to have on the radar. I find it important to try to foresee potential problems early on with newer technologies similar to the splitting of the atom or emergence of AI.

Edit: Rereading I think I might have misinterpreted your comment on the first pass, so we might be on the same page here.

Well in any case I'm glad you're writing about it and we're talking about it! Whatever the stance of each person it will no doubt affect us all. 😉 👍
