THE WAY NON AFRICANS THINK OF AFRICANS

To all those folks out there asking "how many people in (Lagos,Nigeria) can afford to get a place in this Eko Atlantic city?" I ask them "how many Emera-tis can afford to stay at the burj kalifa or al buraj in Dubai?"because you will find out that its mostly the super rich citizens and tourists that stay there. What most of us don't get is that you spend money(lots of it) to make more money. Lagos state needs to open up more revenue streams to be able to take care of its needs. Just imagine the taxes alone that this project will generate when completed; the jobs to be created by the service sectors maintaining it, its tourism potentials and so also the prestige it gives Nigeria in the international community, knowing full well that the perception of the white man( and other non blacks out there) is that "can anything good come out of Africa?". In fact, you know what? If its even just to show to the rest of the world that the blackman is not totally "dumb", and can use his brain to do something worthwhile(apart from evil).

The Lagos State Government on Thursday said the phase six of the Eko Atlantic City would be completed in October 2019.

The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, stated this in Ikeja during the briefing of his ministry to mark the third anniversary of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration.

He said “the Nigeria’s premium rising smart city situated adjacent to Victoria Island” was designed to stand on 10 million square meters of land reclaimed from ocean and had six phases of implementation.

He said, “Phase one and two have already been completed with roads, potable water to the World Health Organizations standard, fiber optics advanced telecommunication facilities and over 10,000 trees planted the city.

“The new city emerging will change the aesthetics of the coastline and real estate market.’’

Adejare said work was progressing on the construction of nine jetties with shelter and shoreline protection, as well as channelization of four new ferry routes to boost water transport in the state.

“The projects, upon completion, will help reduce pressure on road infrastructure,” he added.

The Commissioner said the first phase of the reclamation and protection of Badagry Marina involving shoreline protection had been completed, adding that within the last three years, the government completed the Epe Marina, reclamation of Lekki Foreshore scheme and Orange Island.
