Steemit for Journalism: What stories should we investigate?

Hi Steemians! A simple question, but one that I'm really hoping to hear your responses on:

What are the topics you are most interested in reading about - and is the current homepage an accurate reflection of this?

Making the News...

At the start of this week I wrote an introductory post with a brief outline of why I'm interested in the potential of Steemit as a hub for investigative journalism.

A few days later @infovore wrote this excellent post on the rise of media conglomerates and the threat to investigative journalism; it's a good read, and the fact that it was significantly upvoted shows that there's a lot of interest in the subject, which seems a really good sign that the desire to produce high-quality journalism is there.

That said, the homepage is very much weighted towards travel stories and personal introductions; entertaining and readable, but written from first-person accounts rather than in-depth research. So back to the original question: If you were to allocate more of your Steem towards investigative journalism, what are the topics you're most passionate about? Might it be technological innovation? Politics, and political corruption? Crime and punishment (as explored recently by Shane Bauer's shocking exposé of the private prison system)?

What about climate change, and the way big corporates dodge their environmental responsibilities? Gentrification in American cities? Race, gender and social justice?

The list goes on, and it's not to say that one topic is more important than any other - they all are. But if there's one issue that really bugs your social conscience, what is it?
