This material can convert heat, solar and kinetic energy into electricity!

in #invention7 years ago (edited)

Scientists have discovered a material that can be the greatest achievement of science. This material is a type of mineral called perovskite and has the ability to transform solar energy, heat and motion into electricity. The devices based on perovskite that bled solar energy were invented in 2009, and since then has been seen as a great innovation in renewable energy.

They are more effective and cheaper than conventional panels and their efficiency increases from year to year, is currently the largest solar technology progress rate.

With a new study by a team of researchers from Finland which was published in February 2017 in Applied Physics Letters, they claim that a type of KBNNO called perovskite transforms solar energy into kinetic electricity and heat simultaneously. Moreover, it can do so even at room temperature, and is a practical solution. Although KBNNO is not strong enough to power the whole house, enough to recharge devices such as mobile phones.

I can't wait to see few solar farms using this material. Until then let's take a look at the most beautiful solar farms that already exist.

Disneyland has built its own solar farm. Duke Energy Solar Farm Florida, near Walt Disney World Resort in California, contains approximately 48,000 solar panels, all perfectly arranged in the shape of Minnie Mouse ears.

Started in the summer of 2016, the farm will supply electricity Walt Disney World and Reedy Creek Improvement District.

Solar Farm Airport Chattanooga, Tennessee

Located in southwestern Tennessee Chattanooga airport, this solar plant uses the remaining space free for aviation purposes. Giant solar farm complex brings together two solar farms:

  • Phase I, consisting of the 60 solar cells 3948 each generate each panel 255 W
  • Phase II, made up of 72 cell panels 3542 each generate 310 watts per panel

The two phases cumulatively produce about 85 percent of the energy needs of the airport.

PS10 and PS 20 solar electric plantations in Spain

Located in Sanlúcar la Mayor, Spain, this sun plantation once held the title of most powerful solar power tower in the world until the California Ivanpah Solar Power Facility was started in 2014. The Spanish solar tower of 20 megawatts (MW) it was completed in 2009 and has a capacity to supply 10,000 homes with electricity.

The plantation uses 1,255 mirrors positioned on 84 hectares to concentrate sunlight onto a central tower-mounted receiver.

Comprising 9 million solar modules cadmium extending over a larger area of 5.6 square kilometers, it is one of the largest photovoltaic power plant in the world.

Started in November 2014, 550 megawatts plantation can produce enough electricity to power approximately 180,000 homes. According to Adam Voiland, NASA Earth Observatory from this farm is sufficient to avoid approximately 407,000 metric tons per year of carbon dioxide, equivalent to a shutdown of 7,000 automobiles.

Crescent Dunes Project in Nevada

Completed in December 2014, the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project, located in the desert, even near Las Vegas, was put into operation on February 1, 2015.

Over a period of 6 hours biologists counted 130 birds that died on the farm solar. An anonymous source said that at least one of the birds was done completely white and was completely vaporized.

Sad about the birds. KFC should open up shop there.

Yes, it is sad!

Asombroso !!

:)) Thanks @kidink23, glad you like it! Cheers!

Heard about Duke Energy before but didn't realised they are into solar too.

Now you know Ace! :D

Yes, thanks to you.
