Introductions are not boring...
Stuff takes time. But mostly it comes down to action! What do I mean? Well, I decided to choose Steemit as my base for any of my future articles. I already was aware of Steemit and signed up somewhere in July 2016. But that was pretty much it... And you know what?! It’s kind of crazy not to live by what you preach... Let me clarify this.
So who am I? You could of course checkout Linkedin, But here's a summary: My name is Walter Bril. Made in the Netherlands. Musician, technologist, traveler, author, speaker, runner… but foremost professional thinker and dreamer. Although, thinking and dreaming are great, but don't get you anywhere if you don't combine this with some activities... So, I also "do" stuff:
With my process knowledge management background, combined with skills and experience in both technology management as “customer related friendliness” for more than 25 years, I am currently heavily involved in the San Francisco based startup Elements.cloud. As one of the original co-creators of the Universal Process Notation, I use my knowledge to add value to this great initiative. Awesome!
In addition to this, at the end of 2014, I started to look more and more into the interesting developments around blockchain. Particularly in the context of social developments, my concerns regarding the sustainability of traditional thinking models, and the socio-economic opportunities that blockchain (and other new technology developments have to offer, but blockchain is “my thing”), I became a true blockchain evangelist. The combination “process-nerd” and blockchain evangelist is particularly valuable. And again, just being interested doesn’t bring you anywhere… so I do more stuff:
Which shows in participating in Weconet.org and co-authoring of the books Blockchain Organizing & Blockchain Organizing for Managers. I’m also involved in advising young (blockchain / process knowledge management) entrepreneurs who develop their activities through the Brightlands Campus concept in Heerlen, Netherlands. And yes, I do public speaking.
Last but not least, I have a bachelor’s in business informatics, a somewhat technical background (UNIX). Genuinely interested in life and especially all its weird and funny manifestations. The digitalization, and moreover tokenization of our daily life is one of those weird examples. Which occasionally can drive me to write blogs... As I have written blogs on centralized platforms, it's about time to live by what I preach:
