Introducing: The Realist

in #introduction7 years ago

I am a fan of precision and concision.  In order to convey truthful information,  it is necessary to write or speak in a precise and concise fashion.  Useful ideas are generally communicable in this fashion with no difficulty.  In my experience, many if not most writers use too many words and often words of many syllables to present their ideas and/or information.  My objective is to communicate effectively to a general audience.

My ideas are largely guided by the "Reality Principle" that I found clearly elucidated years ago in a Robert Ringer book and have since encountered in philosophical tomes by other authors.  The "Reality Principle" states that in order to be successful in life one must determine the nature of reality and work with that reality, or reality will automatically work against you, effectively opposing your progress in life.  I believe the same principle to be applicable to the function of the human mind.  A mind that does not recognize reality and work with it will never properly define problems, and lacking the proper definitions, fail to solve them.

It has been my observation that many, if not most people "sleepwalk" with a mind full of cherished delusions.  The love of these delusions prevents them from succeeding in their life goals.  In fact, if a Realist points out that delusions prevent the delusional from success in life, he is treated to anger and insult for his trouble.  Nevertheless, the great benefits that accrue from the philosophy of Realism far outweigh the abuse he receives from the delusional.  In fact, I recommend that the Realist do not try to save the delusional from the consequences of their ill logic for it is a waste or the Realist's time and energy.  Instead, the Realist should use the insight granted to him by adherence to the Reality Principle to improve his own life.  I recognize that the delusional will reject my opinions and ideas as controversial or even pernicious, but I do not write for the delusional crowd, but for those who reject delusion in favor of reality that promises real values and real gifts.  The Realist is of course a rare breed, but is absolutely essential for human progress in the individual and society in general.
