Hi Steemit! This is me...
Hey everyone, my name is John and this is my first post to Steemit!
I'm 46, live in the UK and work in London by day.
I have a couple of interesting hobbies
- Riding roller coasters. Yep, I'm that guy who always runs to the front of the biggest and fastest roller coaster at a theme park. I've been all over the world: USA, Europe, Africa trying to find the best ones. I keep getting asked which ones are the best... it's a hard choice as each one is different but generally I prefer the old wooden style ones over the big metal monsters. They have more soul... I used to organise trips for the European Coaster Club (yes there is a club for us coaster enthusiasts). I spent 10 years of my life planning trips to all over the world for up to 150 people but it took too much of my time up, so now just go to theme parks to enjoy the rides.
- I'm addicted to flight simulators and virtual air traffic control. I have my own little cockpit at home with a yoke (thing that controls the plane), rudders, throttles, etc. I like to fly the little Cessna planes but have been seen flying the Big Tin too. I fly on Vatsim which is a network of like-minded virtual pilots and air traffic controllers. It might sound geeky but believe me when you're up there flying around and getting shouted at by the controllers, it seems pretty real!
I also have 2 dogs, 1 wife, a 14 year-old daughter and another son on the way. Happy days.
Feel free to get in touch
Cheers
John
Welcome Home.
Dear Fellow Adrenaline Junkie:
What's the scariest rollercoaster you've ever ridden?!?!
Scariest is probably the High Roller in Las Vegas. It's not fast or long but it's attached to the side of the Stratosphere Tower and is 1000 ft up in the air. I hate heights (yes, really) and hated every minute of the ride - felt like I was going to plummet to my death. My favourite coaster at the moment is probably Balder in Liseberg, Sweden. It's made out of wood and is simply stunning. Lots of airtime and rattles :)
Welcome to Steemit!
Love your work fatman. I too adore coasters. I am around your age but fear that by the time my 9 year old son reached the age to come on the big coasters with me, I won't be able to do it anymore. Most recently went on the Hotwheels sidewinder rollercoaster on the Gold Coast of Australia. My son almost came but I'm glad he didn't. Apparently its one of the tallest, high-speed gravity rollercoasters in the Southern Hemisphere. Thye g forces were amazing but many people got off holding their necks. I suffer from mild whiplash so it was an aweful few days of painkillers for me but it was so worth it! So many theme parks on the GC - it's well worth the trip for their coasters. Check out scooby doo, the greeen lantern, superman, buzzsaw to name a few.
Wishing you well.
