Greetings from wildwood!

I'm Leon. I first came across Steemit through my interest in cryptocurrency and am keen to join the community and see how it all works.

Firstly, a bit about myself, and what I plan to write about. I run a Survival School, called Wildwood Bushcraft, based on the beautiful, West Coast of Scotland, where I live with my wife and two daughters. My background is in wildlife research and ecology (my PhD was on otter ecology), though I have also worked in IT/programming.

Here are some of the things that I am passionate about:

  • Wildlife - research and conservation
  • Bushcraft and Survival
  • Canoeing
  • Ecotourism (I am an MSc lecturer in this subject)
  • Navigation
  • Mountain walking
  • Guitar and Harmonica (especially blues)
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Foraging
  • DIY and self-reliance (I am currently building a hut on wheels)

Please follow me, if any of that is of interest to you! I look forward to getting involved and making a contribution.

Thanks - that's appreciated

Thanks very much !

Welcome to Steemit. I'm pleased I checked out the intro page tonight as I'm interested in pretty much all of your list! I studied ecology at university and did my dissertation about otters on the west coast of Scotland. Indeed I still have over a hundred little pots of fish bones in my Dad's loft - the cleaned remains of many otter spraints! Look forward to seeing your posts and off to check out your survival school now.

Wow that is quite a coincidence - great to make contact with you - when did you do the otter study?

ummmm.........1999-2000 so 17 years ago! How time flies! One of my favourite summers that - walking miles and miles collecting otter spraints. I still can't pass one by without giving it a prod about to see what's been eaten. I'm in England now and its mostly red signal crayfish I find them munching here.

Would love to do one of your survival weekends sometime - looks wonderful. On my list :)

Sounds very familiar - yes lucky to have otters on my doorstep where I live and see them quite often. My otter research was back in the early 90s! Hope you can make it on a course - would be good to swap stories.

Welcome to Steemit
Sounds like you will have many interesting stories to share.
My son @frobear loves otters but apart from a few in the zoo not too many in Australia, but we do have Platypus.
Found you from @monkeygentle resteem

Thanks very much - platypus - a very interesting animal! Not one I have met in the wild yet.
