Here’s my “Please read me, I swear I’m interesting” intro post (REPOST: New account)

And after not that much debating, here I am, introducing myself to the unique and valuable community that is Steemit.

Hi, my name is Carla and I am somewhat of a nomad. I was born in Argentina, then moved to Italy, then to the Netherlands, then to the UK, then to France, then to Switzerland, then to Vietnam, then to Australia, then to Bali, and now that I’m out of there, I have no idea where I’m gonna set camp for a while next.

In “basic” and “clichè” terms, I guess you could say I’m a “citizen of the world”. And that’s just how I feel, but that’s a story for another day.

Going backpacking on my own around Southeast Asia a few years ago was the best thing I’ve ever done, yet maybe the worst — nobody died, you’ll see what I mean.

It was the best, because I’ve come to learn things I probably would have never learned if I had stayed put. Cultures, traditions, religions, history, languages, tolerance, compassion… the knowledge I’ve been acquiring throughout all these years is invaluable and something that I try to pass on to others in any way that I can.

That’s not to say I’m that one person at a party that has to have the stage and tell everyone about her journey through self-discovery, how meditating with monkeys in the jungle helped her realise life was not just about making money, and she’s now able to scratch her back with her toes from how flexible she got thanks to yoga.

That’s not me. In fact, you’re more likely to find me in the corner talking to someone who’s sharing more than they probably should with me, right after I tell them that I studied psychology. “Oh, so you can read people? What am I thinking right now? And what do you think I should do about my situation with my cousin’s best friend?”. Does some school around the world teach that? Because my school surely didn’t prepare me to guess what other people were thinking and to diagnose individuals by just looking at them once. Maybe I went to the wrong school…

Those who know me say I’m a very patient listener, which is funny because I’ve always thought patience is a virtue I’m mildly allergic to. However, my love for sudoku and photography tell me otherwise.
I enjoy talking to people and helping them anyway I can. I’m too curious and too much of an empath to let someone near me mull over their problems on their own. Who doesn’t need a good set of ears and a shoulder to cry on once in a while?

…and just like that, I got sidetracked. This happens frequently; I talk a lot.

Embarking in a solo adventure on the other side of the world was also one of the worst things for me — it sounds tragic, but believe me, it’s not; just trying to make a point here.

You see, I hate routine and I like everything. What’s the outcome of that equation? Traveling. Traveling doesn’t involve doing the same thing every day and it gives you the freedom to try anything you want, whenever you want. So my “issue” is that, now that I’ve traveled a fair bit, I can’t seem to spend too much time in one place, because I start getting restless and anxious at the mere thought that I might never have enough time to see everything corner of the planet.

Some may say that’s silly, some may say “I’m with you, girl!”. Anybody else out there with me?

Anyway, this introduction is getting too long. Are you still reading this? I hope you are.

Here’s why I decided to join Steemit: first of all, the idea of exploring a new social media network is exciting (my FB feed is basically the Youtube of cats), but what’s even better is that it evolves around the fascinating topic that is cryptocurrencies. I’m no expert, but I have a wallet: can I give my own opinion about Bitcoin being a bubble (or not) now?

Second of all, as I’ve mentioned, I love photography and I’ve been doing it for a few years. I’ve been published on magazines and websites a number of times (I even got interviewed for a UK magazine!), yet I still haven’t been scouted as an Instagram influencer and paid to travel the world, take some shots and charge thousands of dollars per post. I’ve been told to share my face more in pictures, which I’m guessing is code for “show your butt”. As you can see, there are hardly any butt cheeks in my IG feed. Maybe I should do it. Maybe that will make me rich and famous one day… who knows.

So, if you stick around, you’ll get to see pictures of mountains, beaches, baby monkeys and tiny people. I may even share a few anecdotes with you. Until then, I’ll leave you alone.

I think this was one of the most enjoyable post I've read here on steemit ( and I'm not exaggerating :P) and I've been on this platform for several months. Your sense of humor and self-irony is amazing, it flows so well with your story telling and gets the reader captive in the world you are portraying. It's awesome to get lost reading something, and humbling in a way to see such raw talent :)
We take our security very serious here on steemit, so if you need any advice on how to better manage your account feel free to contact me or any other "older" steemian.
Keep the amaizing post coming. Cheers!

P.s As a quick tip to logging in : never use you master password, log in with your posting key and keep your master password offline.

Well, Merry Christmas to me! That's the kindest comment I've ever gotten about my writing, so thank you! It's always nice to hear that other people genuinely enjoy the things I have to say. It fuels my wishes to keep writing, sharing stories and photos in the hope that will inspire a few to leave their 'comfort zone' and take over the world, so to speak :) I'll try my best to keep sharing interesting and engaging content.

Thank you so much for the helpful tip! I'm a complete noob here, so I still have to get the hang of how the voting/steem power/keys work. Time will teach me, and if I get stuck, I'll be sure to ask for help :) Thanks again!

Happy travels and Merry Christmas!

Thank you so much! Looks like we're both into "reading people's minds" ;p Followed you!

Carla, if you haven't already, make sure to check Steepshot. It's the Instagram of Steem. :-)

Oh, and welcome.

Thank you so much for that! Running over there to check it out :D

Also, followed you! :)

Welcome to Steemit.. you'll find plenty of nomads, homesteads, travelers and gypsies here... I'm looking forward to those pics of beaches, baby monkeys and maybe even one of you scratching your back with your toes...

Thanks! The first two are very likely, the third, one on the other hand, is not! haha

Followed you over here, what was wrong with your old account?

Thank you so much Paul!

I was unable to sign in with the app, so thinking that it was an issue with the password, I decided to reset it, but when I did it, I messed up the order of things due to a typo and ended up copying my old password last, rather than the new one. I had so many things going on in the background, I was completely distracted. Sigh. Oh well. I learned the lesson! It won't happen again... I hope :p

Nice to meet you here Carla! Your nomadic photographer life seems awesome, happy to be following now.

Thanks Scott! Very happy (and flattered) to have you in the audience now :)

I'll be watching... Cheers!
