Hi everyone on Steemit! I’m Tim and excited to be joining the Steemit ecosystem.

I live in the US, born in Jersey and lived in Colorado twice, South Carolina, Delaware, Hawaii in a recycled earth home in a banana patch and on a cruise ship at one point. Thus far, the world has taken me on many exciting journeys throughout my travels and I’m grateful for the experiences and people I have met along the way. From a young age I always enjoyed traveling, see new places, experiencing new cultures, and participating in new activities.

Growing up a skateboarder, I later began surfing and snowboarding (my favorite). I may have even chosen my college based on the best mountain to go to. When I was younger I also played team sports: growing up in a baseball town helped me be competitive. I can remember our little league winning the Little League World Series in 98’. Seeing how sports shapes my town, I’ve been always reminded about how healthy competitive environment accelerate growth.

In college, I began playing rugby, which I have played on and off since then. The last time I played I snapped my arm in half (whoops) but still made it to my friends wedding in the afternoon. I try my best to not to let little things get in the way on what I want to do in life.

Over the course of my teens and most of my 20s, I’ve experienced my places, different jobs, been fortunate to associate with many different groups of people, and participate in a variety of activities from multi-day hikes, moped adventures in burning forests in remote villages, ice climbing to music festivals and technology conferences. Found a love for cliff jumping along the way.

Between odd jobs and travel, I started going after a career slowly with time spent in insurance sales and recruiting. I knew technology was the future and wanted to get involved. I found myself seeking out conferences, meet ups, and studying areas that were new to me to play catch up in the world of digital marketing and the world of tech.

Along the way, I began seeking a technology sales role and began diving into the rabbit hole of distributed ledgers, blockchain and Cryptocurrency. Books, websites, videos, white papers, long phone conversations, Facebook group chats on repeat lead me to you Steemit and I couldn’t be more stoked!

Fast Forward

I see the world in the future, 15 years from now a different place than when I was born. We will live in society that is interacted with a more level playing field than today in terms of distribution of opportunity. Blockchain will aid in this distribution, our currencies will have the availability to operate with lower transaction cost and deflationary risk; for the first time people all over the world will have access to stable currencies, our devices will provide opportunity to run as decentralized automated organizations through sharing of computing speed and data storage which will help the average person find ways of generating income, our devices will help us manage our own emotions by recognizing patterns in our activity through use of different devices: phone applications, wearable technology (think Fitbit), analyzing tone of our messages, and track medical records to see our health over time. Our data we share with the world be ours, instead of the companies that we interact with. Automated tasks using AI will allow us to operate at faster speeds and manage our lives rather than repeat mundane tasks once needed to do research. We will see a switch of how we utilize energy and share computing power, potentially even mining resources in space that will deliver more power output than oil. If Iron Man (Elon Musk), himself gets his way we will have a multi-planetary society with a several trips of people already colonizing mars. We will begin to enter the next phase on human civilization, as we know it.

But the reality is ideological shifts do not happened over night, in a quarter or a year. Technological advances go through phases and original ideologies don’t account for problems that will occur along the way. New problems will need new solutions and the engineers will be the ones to bridge the gap or not. Right now, I see blockchain in the early innovation stage. Many companies are learning and testing new ways of utilizing blockchain services. The development takes time and money to transform into a reality. The best systems will have focused practical use that will be able to improve on systems that are in place today. The world won’t cater to blockchain because it’s trendy. Blockchain within its applications whether that be decentralized platforms competing with IOS or Android, decentralized apps competing with Facebook, Twitter, or EBay, or currencies that are competing against the USD, Yen, Pounds, will need to provide more value to people than existing systems.

The world of crypto assets (cryptocurrency, Dapps, tokens) will continue to expand. Companies new and old will test and create new systems. Companies alive today will invest time and resources to learn about the developing technologies and see how they can utilize them to stay alive during this evolvement period of technology. New companies will form and create new industries fighting to produce blockchains that will be utilized by the masses. Privacy technology, scalability, and low to no transaction costs will be the major obstacles to perfect. Ultimately we will see over time in the next 5 years strong foundations being built on platforms like Ethereum, EOS, and NEO; or whomever takes up the challenge. Once the top platforms are established it will be harder for companies to breakthrough to over come them. This will be similar to how hard it is to beat Google, Facebook, or Amazon today. We know Facebook beat MySpace so its possible to outdo giants over time, but sure is hard.

Just like the competing market for platforms you we will see cryptocurrency compete for top spots, we will likely see multiple currencies. Bitcoin has the 1st to market and is right now acting as the pegged cryptocurrency, Ripple has shot up the ranks because of its use cases within international banking. We could see governments try to utilize cryptocurrency to gain control back of the currency market if it shifts to far to crypto or before it gets that far. It will be interesting to see the efforts of different nations to promote healthy environments of growth within this world of distributed ledgers. When it comes to the actually currency, this will be crazy to see how it pans out.

Applications on the platforms will be super fun to test as developers flood into an emerging market. We will see companies of existence offering better service agreements in a world where we own the data we contribute to the new internet. No longer will we have to accept the terms and conditions without reading them, which will allow us to pull our past data into new applications to utilize new technologies as they come out instead of having to wait for them to formulate information about us. The application market will still grow the same way it does now, apps that are better will gain traction as stay at top within its market as long as it can keep us as customers, however we will be treated better along the way.

What cryptocurrency, platforms, dapps, tokens and digital assets in general will change the world? The answer will be told in time, for now I think we will see the strongest growth in ideas with strong development teams, that will be quickly adaptable into the market, are good at marketing but don’t push it by selling buzz words but rather building community and unity with the networks they are forming: creating a decentralized network of miners with incentives, having capabilities of scaling without inducing costs on users to make internet transactions like posting on media sites like this or hitting the like button and keeping costs low when it comes to transferring of money. New distributed ledgers technologies: whether that be blockchain or other like IOTA’s tangle will need to be fair in the cryptoeconomics distribution as well as operating in a way that takes legislation into consideration before regulation occurs. The last thing any company or blockchain needs is to be attacked by government through means of which could be avoided by considering past legal implications of similar cases. We are already seeing self regulation of standards come up within this ecosystem and as it continues to grow and soon we will see legal regulations form.

I hope you all enjoyed my thoughts :) I’ll be posting on here about blockchain and cryptocurrency with a narrower focus on future topics.

I’m always interested in learning more about blockchain, cryptocurrency, AI and futurism. Please reach out if you think we should connect!

Oh…in case you were wondering…what keeps me up at night? Caffeine… I love bulletproof coffee :)
