Moving Houses - A Universal Hatred

in #introduceyourself10 years ago (edited)

LET'S ALL JUST HATE ON THE SAME THING FOR A SECOND.

There are so many topics for people to disagree on in this world such as politics, religion and money just to name a few. I've come to all you loyal Steemers today with an article about a process that we can all hate collectively without being bigots or being called one.

There is one thing that we can all truly agree on, it is a universal fact that is instilled in us from the very first time we have to complete this vile act.

MOVING

Moving fucking sucks, I spent the better part of 12 hours yesterday moving out of our old place. It is a meticulous, tiring and dusty job, it is a task that must be done but is not made any easier by that fact. No matter how much I prepare for the big day I'm never ready for that 6-12 hours of straight cleaning and moving, let alone the previous 2 weeks of tidying up, organising your possessions and sorting out who's is what. It sucks leaving the house that you have so many memories in with your mates, often you don't realise how good it was until you've left.

But you know what's fucking weird? I've had it easy.

I'm a simple person at the end of the day. My precious belongings are mainly made up of my bed, clothes, laptop, computer and books, not your typical 20 year old in this day and age. I lived in a house with 3 other blokes in theirs 20's and I probably own half as much as each of them at the most. One of my housemates hired a 3.2-ton truck and it still took him 2 loads to transport all of his stuff (he does have 120+ pairs of sneakers).

I ended up getting home at 11pm last night so I still had a full car to unload this morning and a room full of boxes.

MY POOR BONSAI WAS LEFT ALONE IN MY CENTRE CONSOLE ALL NIGHT.

Despite it being the middle of winter in Australia it was fucking hot today, unpacking becomes all the more frustrating with that intense Queensland sun making you exude sweat. I decided to move back to my parents for a few months to save some money but my beautiful, busy mother hadn't had a chance to move her massive collection of clothes to so all my stuff is still residing on the floor. Safe to say it'll be another week before I'm fully settled into my new accommodation, but hey its not all doom and gloom now!

THE BRIGHT SIDE

After living on the bones of my arse for the last 2-3 years free food is an illusive and magical thing. Over the next few weeks I'm going to eat like a king and I'm sure to put on some much needed weight (especially since I'm doing a pot detox). My parents are the smartest cool cats I know too so it's time for me to truly appreciate their knowledge and learn from them more than I did in my teen years. Plus it's my chance to make up for all that tomfoolery, I was a real worry for my high-achieving family and a stubborn know-it-all who didn't listen to anyone.

Oh yeah, I've also been reunited with the family dog as well :)

PEACE

P.S. Please note this isn't the original article. I reposted it after I was encouraged by others, didn't gain much attention when I posted earlier.

Indeed, moving totally sucks. As a former Army brat, we moved around every 2 to 3 years. As an adult I've moved 3 times in as many years. As a matter of fact, I've got the majority of my belongings in storage AGAIN. Living out of a suitcase stinks but damn, I'm getting used to it. #NomadLife
