It's National Dog Day - Introducing My Girl Euro!
I have been waiting for the opportunity to share the best thing in my life with the steeemit community, and since it is National Dog Day, the time has come. My dog Euro is my life, my heart, my everything. She is my family and is just as important. So let me tell you the story of how I got the most amazing dog in the world all the way from Holland.
I had recently retired my Yellow Lab from Search and Rescue training, and needed another dog to pursue my goals as a dog sport enthusiast. At this point I was not a Certified Trainer, I was just a dog lover that loved to train and compete. I settled on getting a Dutch Shepherd as I felt a Belgian Malinois would scare my family too much. So I contacted a breeder in Holland and I was in luck, her dog with excellent bloodlines was pregnant.
On April 22, 2018 Euro was born and a few weeks after I started receiving pictures of my beauty...
I thought it was quite fitting that her ribbon colour was Yellow, as it was my favourite colour and I thought that meant she really was for me.
Once she was 9 weeks old, She got on a plane and flew from Holland ---> Germany--->Canada(Home)
We picked her up at the closest airport, I was only 17 and she already had me crying when she came out of her crate for her first pictures with me.
Her ears didn't quite fit her face yet, she was feisty, and bit my face within the first couple days I had her so I knew I had my hands full and training began immediately as it should with all working breeds. So next came some cute puppy pictures now that I had her home
She has marked some of my most exciting moments in my life, and has helped me to succeed in my goals that I never knew I had until I got her.
Here we are getting our picture taken before I go to high-school to have my graduation pictures taken:
She proudly help up her two flags as she is a very cultured dog, once she learned "hold"
Through working with her I decided to take my training passion to the next level and become a Certified Master Dog Trainer now that I had a dog by my side who wouldn't let me down. SO off we went to crush those courses, paw in hand.
She was not only required to be at the top of her obedience game, but also learn to track, sniff out narcotics and bodies. It was vigorous training and we were exhausted as I also had a written/classroom section to it.
After completing my certifications, I had to finish university so she often came into the city and we spent more time nourishing our bond that we had built since she was a puppy. Plus she had to let all my critters in the city crawl all over her, because she knows the difference between a wild bunny and pet bunny...lucky for Bunners, and my ferrets.
At Eight years old, Euro became very sick and was diagnosed with Autoimmune Haemolytic Anemia. She was jaundice and scared, and was staying at an emergency dog hospital. These were some of the worst weeks of my life, where I also got sick watching her go through this.
But my girl decided to fight, and so my family and I decided we would do everything to help her fight. We used both eastern and western medicine, antibiotics, herbs, and acupuncture. She now lives with her autoimmune disease everyday but is healthy, and this is what we think of autoimmune diseases...
This dog will forever be my priority and my life. I hope you enjoyed this post and hope to see more dog pictures in the comments section.
