I like to travel, too, and the first thing I wouldn't need is an apartment - though for me travelling is more a means to pick up ideas, feelings, thoughts, opinions, stories, atmospheres and transform them into written stuff. But I have actually never in my life thought about the possibility of house sitting, thanks for the inspiration :) Hope you'll enjoy Steemit, I'm still quite new, but it's a great place so far, especially for out of the box thinking / living.
