My Journey of Pursuing Chinese Medicine (一步一脚印的中医路)

The #journey of pursuing Traditional Chinese Medicine
was quite tough to say the least…

一步一脚印的中医路
是非常不容易啊

From learning how to read and write simplified #Chinese, and the #pinyin of the herbs,
to memorizing each of the herb, channels, pressure points and #medicine formula
to learning about Western medicine diagnosis, Pharmacology, pathology and psychology
anything and everything medicine related, you name it…

从学习看写简体字 中药的拼音
到背中药 经络 穴位 方剂
到学习西医诊断 药理 病理 心理等等等等

Time surely went by fast after 4 years
after the countless books that I had to read
after the countless songs to memorize terms, positions……
after all the pressure points on the body

四年的时间 过得很快
念不完的书
背不完的方歌
记不住的穴位定位 解剖名词

I was handheld by my professor along the way…
first, from a group of 20 students training session
then, to a smaller group of 4 students treating patients in the room
later on, to an even smaller group of 2 students with the professor assessing the patients, and we poke the needles in
at the end, I am all by myself treating patients in the room

然后由老师手把手的带着看病人
从一班一个老师带着二十多个学生隔岸观火的看病
到四个同学跟着一个老师进入诊室看症
到两个同学跟着一个老师看症自己下手针灸
到最后单独一人面对病人

Scene after scene
Case after case

一幕幕的情景
一个个鲜活的病例

Until that one day… I received my first gift of appreciation from a patient
along with a huge hug
along with a sincere smile

直到有一天收到病人送的礼物
一个大大的拥抱
一个真心的微笑

All the sudden everything I have been through in the past four years become incomparable
all those effort, time and my time
the reason is simple,
it is because when a patient is helped and treated
that feeling of satisfaction is just indescribable
and I enjoy every single moment of it

这四年所咬紧牙关经过的都值了
那些投下去的精神金钱青春
因为能够帮助一个病人
那从心底发出来的满足感
是不能用笔墨来形容的

All I am ask for in my life is that
I don’t want to chase for fame,
I don’t want to chase for money,
all that I want to see is to see another human being smile…
because they are restored, because they are cared for,
and because they are loved.

我想我这一生
不为名 不为利
就只为了得到别人的一个微笑
就够了
