I AM A FOB (FRESH OF THE BOAT )
My name is Manakoa and I am a FOB. A fob (Fresh of The Boat ) is a slang that South Pacific Islanders use when they are fresh in a community or new in a civilized country with a set infrastructure standards. No disrespect to all the Steemians Community , but aren't we all fobs to Steemit being that we are new residents from all over the world occupying Steemit territory.
I am a remnant of the Polynesian Culture and my Ancestors were Nomads of the Winds or the seafarers and navigators of the South Pacific Ocean. Mana means “Spirit” and “Koa” meaning type of wood that built the outriggers for early Polynesians seafarers.
I admit that I am 300% fresh of the boat because this is my first experience in a community that utilizes cryptocurrency eg btc. Im fascinated with the vast knowledge of different currencies and their worth and the trading platform sites. However I've come to educate myself and participate for the sake of my Polynesian Brothers and sisters scattered throughout the Global communities.
My sisters and I want to start a group for Pacific Islanders who would enjoy a community with good people and a vast knowledge of cryptocurrencies. However, Polynesians in general are only moved when they see the benefits tangible to the naked eye. But the younger Polynesians will undoubtedly show interest.
What is a Polynesian ? Polynesians are the groups that occupy the biggest part of the Pacific Triangle. ( Hawaii, Tonga , Samoa , Fiji, Tahiti , New Zealand , Marquesas )

Feel yourself home here Steem4jobs )) I am a FOB here too. Just try not to get any FOBIA ))) (Or Phobia??) Anyway I wold be glad to knew much about your place. I have heard a little (for example about palm climbing competitions etc.) but not so much.
Tonga is a small island chain with a lot of smaller islands. As a kid I do remember my mothers village holding competition at the plantations coconut tree climbing, husking coconut , and building a wooden kennel and filling with about 100 small pigs. All competitors would compete to see who can catch the most pigs. Most islanders were into farming so my grandfather would sell coconut (meat ) to vendors for processing lotion and soaps as well as shampoo.
Nowadays the only pig a person can catch is at a grocery store.lol
