Hello steemit!, here's a picture of some umbrellas taken by me in a Turkish market!

I always believed steemit was a platform with great potential, ever since my friend @pcste recommended it to me a while back, unfortunately I lost the keys to my original account @rcthompson when my hard-drive died :( so I have already learnt how important it is to keep them backed up safely in more than one place!

I have a background as a freelance web developer and journalist in the UK, #1 of the things that has frustrated me in the past about platforms such as YouTube , Facebook, Twitter is how commercialised their model is, with genuine content creators not getting the rewards for their hard work. As well as the google adsense model, which reduces us to pennies per click for websites to advertise commercial products.

I just love how steemit has removed the middle man to a great extent , so the innovators only need to worry about creating great content, and the community can have their say!

My contribution to the community will be to provide news and reviews on all my favourite goings on in the film industry, media & gaming, as well as my personal insights into currents events, such as the crypto market, politics and much more..

I'll also be helping an early adopter of steemit, @pcste with a couple of projects he started; how-to-steemit and steemfriends, which are a work in progress and we expect to launch some new exciting features very soon!
