What is the Hive Mind and Why to Run From It
A hive mind follows the herd. This mind prescribes to the directives given to it. These directives are given in various ways. This is known today as programming, a term I did not hear of until recent years. Here are some of the methods used:
• News headlines that are repeated over and over again.
• Prominent corporate and institutional logos that are originated in cryptic messages.
• Educational materials in schools that are presented and dictated to children as fact with no right or opportunity to debate.
• Shame, ridicule, and banishment directed at individuals, groups, and ideas that dare to be different or something not disseminated by the mainstream sources. This method is very prominent in today’s social media.
• Church doctrine that imparts fear of punishment to their membership demanding they must believe the doctrine preached no matter what evidence questions the doctrine.
• History, as has been presented, is based on honest research and record keeping and is fact.
• The earth was created 6,000 years ago.
This is a mindset that stifles creativity and original out-of-the-box thinking. I know that my life has been heavily impacted by these directives over the greater part of my life. Ever since I was a child, I always had independent thoughts that craved expression. However, the fear factor was ever present and stopped me in most instances to act on those ideas. In fact, I believed for many years there was something wrong with me.
How dare I disagree with these overall premises:
1) Wealth and money are the most important elements of a successful life.
2) I am shy and introverted and cannot overcome.
3) Beautiful very attractive people are the only ones who will be accepted into the success realm.
4) War has always been and is necessary.
5) Fierce competition is the only respected way of doing business.
6) Cooperative efforts will fail.
7) There is either heaven or hell, no other choices.
8) I am not as good or important as other people.
Those are just some of the precepts that were imparted to me over the years in various ways. Today I can plainly see the hive mind projection that was imparted to me and shadowed my life. I never abandoned my independent thoughts, but for the most part, those thoughts were kept hidden under the proverbial bushel basket. I just didn’t talk much. Life was easier that way. For the record, this is not meant to impart blame, as I am accountable for my own life. For anyone who is interested, I will begin posting some of the events and information with links that opened my eyes and my brain to see that I was hoodwinked.

Greeting @shevans. I am glad with your presence in Steemit. I wish you the best! Hope you gonna have fun with our community and see you soon!
Thank you.
I learned a lot about the history of money from Bill Still and his documentary on the central banks. England had one in 1694. They tried to get one in America in 1812. And then again in 1913. I like the #InformationWar tag. You can use that tag if you want. I learned a lot about history, about the age of the earth, from Ken Ham of Answers In Genesis. The earth is probably less than ten thousand years old.
Thank you.
Welcome to Steemit @shevans! This is an excellent place for posting your realizations and for finding communities of like minded people, wonderful people! Funny thing is I came to Steemit for the Crypto but I stay for the community! The tag #Tribevibes fits in well with your line of thinking.

I'm liking the new comments. However, I would point out that it would be good to mention which entrant featured them. I realize that it makes a little extra work for you because it's no longer a copy/paste, but I also know that some entrants struggle with RC and don't let the bloggers know they've been featured. :)
I had thought about doing that...and yes I was being a bit lazy testing to see how this worked for a week. My plan was to add the author next week...but as my Wife and I just talked about our schedule for next week it might not happen. Crazy busy next 2 weeks coming up. I'm free on Thursday...but sure it will get filled with something.
Par for the season. Enjoy the best you can!
Any belief system that cannot withstand questioning and deviation is bound to welcome a select few and turn away everyone with an intellectual attitude. Mindsets can often become just that, a set mind. Independent thinking (including looking for what's true within those mindsets) is the only way to inner peace.
I found your article thanks to @porters' entry into this week's Pay it Forward Curation contest. Keep up the great work!
I too believe we've been culturally brainwashed into thinking that there is only one succesful path in life: go to school, get a job, get married, have kids a dog a house a white picket fence, work, save money, retire, the end. I taught senior high school for years and when those students were questioning their futures and what they were going to do, I had them question why that path was the only one they thought of. It wasn't long before they too understood there's more to life than the hive mindset, and at the very least, there were other choices at their disposal! That's not to say that said life isn't right for many though. I'm glad you found the courage to question it, especially since you always seemed to have that little voice telling you something wasn't quite right.
Thank you for sharing! I found your post because @porters featured you in her Pay it Forward Curation Contest entry; feel free to join us with an entry of your own anytime :)
