Hello to all Steemians from a friendly and hopefully not-so-boring scientist :)
"The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge."
Bertrand Russell
Hello Steemit community! I would like to start introducing myself by quoting a great British philosopher and mathematician, Bertrand Russell, because I truly believe in these wise words.
I have joined Steemit about month ago, and since I'm completely new at this, hopefully I can count on help and some good advises for beginners from all of you experienced fellows Steemians ;)
I have M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Ph.D in Biology, and with more than 15 original scientific papers and review articles published during my short scientific career, I consider myself to be successful scientist so far - we'll see what the future brings! Currently my research is dedicated to investigation of molecular mechanisms involved in clonal progression of Multiple Myeloma, which is incurable hematological cancer formed by malignant plasma cells. I truly believe that one day (hopefully in the near future!) we'll be able to help people who is fighting their battles with this malignant disease, and that all my efforts to bring contribution to the scientific community will have a purpose.

Since being a scientist includes lots of hard work and brainstorming, it's equally important to relax and have some good quality fun! For me, traveling is one of the top fun and relaxing activity - I enjoy breathtaking nature, beautiful architecture, trying out tasty foods and meeting new and exciting people.

I also enjoy engaging in activities most of the girls would find uninteresting, like shooting and karting, because the only thing I'm afraid of is not having enough excitement in my life! :)

Welcome to the site, scienceangel and as someone who once had a small love affair going with the biological sciences, I don't think you should worry about too many people thinking you boring because you're a scientist. Most will / should be fascinated, I'd say.
Good to see you can find the time to balance your work with recreational activities. All work and no play... and all that! Good luck with your research. Many are counting on you. :)
Thank you very much for the warm welcome zool237! I always like to point out the fact that us scientists are cool and funny people as everyone else, and that we know how to have fun :) And thanks a lot for moral support, when it comes to finding a scientific discovery, you always need all luck and support you can get!
Well, we now have YoutubeProfessionals, Pilots and shooting scientists who love love playing reallife mario kart :D - Every second happens something new. You're welcome here on steemit, enjoy the ride! Regards
Nice one about Mario Kart, loved the game by the way ;) Thank you for warm welcome!

"Hey and welcome, fellow life scientist!"
This is what I wanted to write, but then I read the thing about 15 papers and was extremely intimitated...I've got only 7 so far ;-)
But you'll get a valuable piece of advice nevertheless:
When you are posting science, make sure to use the #steemstem tag. That's where the scientists play, and the curators there can give you a very nice boost.
I'll also follow you, cya around ;-)
Hello there :) Thank you for the useful advice about #steemstem, I'll remember that!
