I'm drawn toward similar lifestyle. Low cost of living, high awareness of what the world is doing and where it is going.

It's a great way to live, my total expenses are now about half of my previous rent alone in London. If you move to a country which speaks an easy-ish language (e.g. Spanish) you can fit in reasonably well and make local friends.
By the way - you just inspired me to write a more in depth post on this :-)
