While I do like steemit and have been using it a short time, I'm not seeing in real money. On the other hand I refuse to use Facebook so I find steemit to be a worthwhile creative outlet. Who knows, it could even turn a steem dollar down the road but right now I will be happy with my current account value of $1.42 for 100 posts.
