My Steemit introduction is going nowhere!steemCreated with Sketch.

I have a three year goal.

I doubt I’ll achieve that timeline because I’m a terrible procrastinator and I have never reached a goal that I set for myself in the past. Chances are it will stretch out to be a five year goal.

Hello Steemit, my name is Goat and I want to invite you to come along on my road to nowhere. You heard me right, I want to go nowhere. My goal is to travel the United States with my wife in an RV and make our living totally online. I am drawn to the minimalist RV lifestyle because of the freedom and adventure that comes with it. While most people are trying to gain more, I am trying to downsize and have less. I want the simple life, being at one with nature while leaving a small footprint for future generations.

Here is a little background about how I ended up here. I married my lovely wife in 1995 and we have had two wonderful daughters along the way. We bought our house in 2001 and lived here during the low times of the housing bubble, while others bailed out and moved on, we stayed the steady course in our small home. We raised our children in a stable environment and they have turned out terrific. Now, my wife and I are in our mid 40’s and finally have some home equity built up again. We are at a crossroad and can either stay here using our equity to remodel our house, owing the bank till we are in our seventies or sell our house and use the equity to buy an RV and have a roof over our heads that we own outright. I believe debt is slavery so the key to this lifestyle is to remain debt free. My wife and I are not materialistic people and neither of us made much money in our careers, so we are used to living on a fixed budget. One misconception we hear a lot when we tell people our plan is that they think we are retiring early. That is not the case; we will still have to work from the road but will be living a simpler lifestyle. I’ve been doing research for a few years and if the RV is paid off, we should be able to live comfortable with 2k per month income. That doesn’t seem like an unrealistic amount for two people to make online. I know many people must be making much more, I welcome any input from others that are making a full time living over the internet and also full time travelers that are already living my dream.

I’m very excited about joining the Steemit community and hope to provide great content about the three years leading up to my goal as well as our adventures across the USA once we hit the road. I believe the Steemit platform is groundbreaking and it will be the future of social media. I feel very fortunate that I have the opportunity to join up early and help the community grow.

I’m looking forward to meeting and interacting with all of you Steemians! Thank you for reading my #IntroduceYourself post and being a part of my journey to nowhere.

Welcome to SteemIt! Keep posting and engage with many people, and you will definitely grow on here! Also, stay consistant! Good luck with your goal! :)

Thanks, will do!

Thanks, new friend! Oh and thank you for resteeming my zombie post. I don't know if you were the catalyst but after your resteemed me it started blowing up. Very kind of you!

What a great #introduceyourself post! It was cool reading about your plan for financial freedom. I sincerely hope that you can pull it off! The more people we have who are no longer chained down to this sham of a system we have now, the freer the world will be and the more people will have time to devote towards actually pursing their dreams. Since you're just starting out on here, the best advice I can give you is to come check out the @MinnowSupport Project on Discord. Click on the animated banner below for more information! :) I look forward to seeing you around! I've followed you, so I'm looking forward to reading more about your adventures as you make ways towards achieving your true freedom.

Also, as a side note, I noticed your profile picture...are you by any chance a Discordian? :P

Thanks for the words of encouragement and the advice, I will definitely check out @MinnowSupport

No I'm not a Discordian, but I do believe in Chaos :)

I agree with your people living in a "sham of a system" statement. I'm following you too. I'm looking forward to reading your stuff!

Nice, I hope to see you on there! My username in that server is SaipanDamashii, so feel free to say hi when you drop in :)

Hail Eris? :P One of our senior moderators on the server is called @Discordiant and his pic is pretty much the same as yours, lol. Thank you for following me! I look forward to seeing you in MSP :)

Sounds good, I'll look you up when I join

Hi there Buddy 👋

Your username says it all road to no where

I find a simple life lucrative too

And here on steemit or anything in life the less you expect the more you gain, I say that because as you expect less and when you get results it will feel more and it will keep you motivated and stay consistent with what you are doing.

And it's just the same for success on steemit.

You have a pretty realistic point of view for life my buddy.

Everyone has their passion and you do great when you follow your passion.

Great to have you in the community dear.

Looking forward to your future posts dear.

Warm Regards
@asteemian

Hi, thanks buddy :)

I like how you stated "The less you expect the more you gain" Very well said!

You should now leave the house, get some flowers and give them to your wife because she must love you a lot.

Since you're new on steemit, here's some advice I give to newbies on steemit:

  • never just copy a text or publish a photo/video without explanation. Always add some text (you did that just fine)
  • Always use all 5 tags for more visibility.
  • here is an interesting site where you can look up the stats of your account and others.
  • this is another stats site where you can see your reputation and what to do to climb up the ladder. (commenting other posts is very important).
  • commenting other posts is very important because you get "curation rewards" which means Steem Dollar from the pot for the article as a reward for the interaction.
  • learn the Markdown styles to format your posts (you can find how it works in a link on the right side below the text box)
  • A lot of votes on steemit come from bots that you (or others) can pay for a vote. Depending on the bot, you end up with more $$ than you had before. The best bot I know about is the @minnowbooster. On its website, you can look up how much you can send him for an upvote (it's the big chart at the bottom).
  • All bots work pretty much the same way: You go to your wallet and click on the little arrow next to the Steem Dollar amount. Then click on transfer, fill in the name and the amount and add as memo the URL to the article for which you want an upvote. Very simple.
  • Here is a site where you can compare the performance of different upvote bots.
  • There are also resteem bots, but I don't find them too useful and don't know which one is good.
  • Be careful with your password and watch out for scamming attempts. Several big accounts got stolen and now they try to lure others into giving away their password by posting comments with links to fishing sites.

I will follow you now. (<- always add that to a comment when you intend to follow the person who wrote the article. This way, you increase the likelihood that they follow you as well.)

I hope I could help and if you have questions -> just ask;-)

LOL I better get her a whole field of flowers because I can't believe she's going along with it either :)

Wow that looks like a ton of good info, it's a little overwhelming on here just starting out but your comment makes some of the stuff easier to understand.

I'm following you too, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Hi, friend. Welcome to Steemit. How are you doing. Feel free to explore, make friends and enjoy steeming. @greatness96

Thanks for the welcome comment!

Wow, that is so cool. I hear you on the debt is slavery thing! We have lived modest since the bubble also. My husband was building houses when it happened, so everything in our lives came to a stand still; and didn't move much after that. I think your idea of living off money made with your writing and adventures is a great idea. I hope you have great success here on Steemit.

Newcomers can find lots of help through the Minnow Support Project on discord. It's a very easy to use chat, and voice chat program lots of groups use here on Steemit. We hope Steemit will grow to a point we no longer need an outside chat, but until then we are social creatures, and love to talk :) Check it out if you can. Have fun posting, and growing into a big fish!
