They tried so hard...

They tried so hard to help us connect and share with the people in our lives. But we demanded more. We wanted to see what's happening. We wanted to be connected, to be discovered. And it didn't stop there. We wanted to broadcast ourselves. We wanted to capture and share the world's moments. We wanted more, and more... and more.

Faster and faster we began to dance through our lives, that we almost lost sight of the journey. And then we began to realise. We became aware - of others, of the world around us, and of the decay in society. We needed change, and we needed it desperately.

That change dawned. It was time - to do the right thing... to think different... to empower ourselves.

That time is now. Digital leadership speaker Erik Qualman once said "We don't have a choice on whether we DO social media, the question is how well we DO it." When I look at the pure wealth of shared interest that drives the Steemit community, I think of just that. And I've got to say, ya'll do social media damn well!

We're on the verge of something incredible, and to watch as the intricacies unfold in the blockchain realm is truly something quite phenomenal. I'm fortunate to have become a part of it and to be able to share my experience with others. So here goes...

Hello, World. My name is Nic.

And I could go on and on about stuff like my age, where I'm from and what I do, but none of that has anything to do with who I really am. So face values aside, I hope that in time I'll be able to share with the Steemit community a little more than what meets the eye - and through my contributions you'll get to know me - the real me, and if you're reading this and you're new to Steemit too, I challenge you to do the same.

I challenge you to Steemit - if you deem it. Take control of your moral compass, and of the power that this revolutionary Social Media platform has to offer. Take control of yourself. Don't just charm... captivate! Be a guiding light. Be a beacon of hope. Be a fountain of inspiration, and a wealth of knowledge. And share. Share, share, share. Because sharing really is caring. Give to those willing to learn, and accept from those willing to teach.

Remember the iconic words "You must be the change you want to see in the world!"? Gandhi was on to something, for sure. And Apple too, because they once held firm that "the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

All it takes is a little time (and a little crazy, too). So let's dance a little slower. Let's actually listen to the words of our own song - and to those of others - instead of just letting them fly. You never know, you might just come across the most beautiful music you've ever heard.
