Hello Steemit! Why I joined and what's more to come.

Dear Steemit community,

There's this outdated model of the grateful writer that's been hammered into my psyche by almost every teacher I've had in high school and college. That you as a creative being are lucky to be read and recognized, that not all those with talent may mine the lottery ticket to succeed. That you ought to live in near poverty for several years, write your best work, then beg the gatekeepers of the kingdom to let you have just one chance to display your work to the public. You must kiss their feet every single day.

Rinse, repeat. Your first book advance might not even let you break even.

Bitcoin may have introduced me to the idea of decentralized money, but it's other projects like Steemit that make me excited once again for the direction of our world. Creators need to have a say in how their content is distributed / produced/ compensated for. Point blank.

Let's see how this experiment goes. Not sure what I will be doing (upload short stories? upload novel as I write it?), but I wanted to introduce myself since I am excited to join this community.
