Hi, I'm Mark and I'm about to publish a brand new novel on Steemit!

Introducing my new novel, The Anarchist's Almanac!

I did an introductory post when I first came in, not knowing at all what Steemit was about. After two weeks, I feel I am starting to get my balance a bit, although things change so fast, it's hard to tell.

I'm a freelance writer, with over 20 years of experience as a playwright. I've written and self published several novels, most recently, the first in a series called The Origin Dime Chronicles, "Jacked" on Amazon and other platforms.

*Among my many passions in life is an affinity for self-determination, autonomy and voluntaryism. The story I am about to start sharing is my vision of a future in which we do not learn these lessons, but insist on forcing square pegs into round holes. *

The Anarchist's Almanac is what is left of the internet in a future where autonomy is a crime.

A few brave pioneers are willing to live as outlaws, outside of society, to keep their liberty, but "The Consensus" will do everything they can to indoctrinate and coerce them into a "Caucus City" where their every move, from the job they hold, to their mate, to the food they eat will be at the will of the Consensus.

In order to survive, the rebels band together, and on the bones of an abandoned blockchain, build a makeshift internet to share encoded messages, allowing them to stay one step ahead of their would be overlords.

To set the stage, I wanted to share a foundational document, to help you understand the world of our story.

*Life is governed by The Twelve Laws. They are as follows. *

The Covenant of Consensus

It is with the knowledge that one world consensus is the only way to peace, and with the belief that this consensus can only be reached through a mutual purging of our regional, religious, political, national and individual ideologies, that we set our hands to this covenant on this The Fourth day of July, in the year of our enlightenment, Two Thousand and Seventy-Six. We do solemnly pledge to strive for consensus throughout our communities, our nations and our world.

To this end, we do hereby institute the Covenant Council, to lead and govern in this search for consensus, and to aid them, we do hereby decree that we, every man, woman and child of the human race, now living and yet to be known, shall be governed by these Twelve Laws.

The Twelve Laws

1. The Consensus of humanity is the source of life and should be respected as such. Anyone found to be acting against consensus, will be immediately placed in stasis, until such time as it is determined that said individual, or individuals are no longer a threat to consensus.

2. No citizen shall exercise authority over another, except, and unless directed by a consensus of their local caucus, for a specific time and purpose. No caucus shall exert authority over another caucus, and all disputes between caucuses shall be judged by the Covenant Council, and the Covenant Council shall be subject to the consensus of the jurisdictions.

3. No symbol of any other government than the consensus is to be created, worn, displayed, or written, used in art, or spoken about, except in the study of the history of humanity. Any such display will be considered a violation of the first law, and shall be cause for immediate stasis.

4. Consensus requires constant diligence on the part of each member of the human race. This being true, all humans above the age of fourteen years shall be present at no less than two weekly caucus sessions within each thirty day period within their home jurisdiction. Anyone determined to not be in attendance, will face a consensus hearing. They will need to demonstrate their allegiance to the covenant of consensus, in order to reinstate themselves into the caucus, and ensure their continued work towards human consensus. Anyone failing to cooperate will be deemed in violation of the first law.

5. Each human life is equally valuable,and useful in the building of human consensus. All humans in good standing with the caucuses of their home jurisdictions must be treated equally, and considered on equal footing for the purpose of work allotment, property allotment, choice of mating partner, and all other consensus activities. Any such human, upon complaint to the caucus of their home jurisdiction, shall be granted a hearing to resolve any inequitable treatment by any other person, whether in good standing or not. Any individual found to violate this law, shall also be deemed in violation of the first law.

6. Knowing now that Marriage was a corrupt institution with no basis in science, anyone claiming a right to another human being is in violation of the Covenant of Consensus. Mating partnerships for the purpose of raising children are encouraged, being deemed the best arrangement for building consensus in young children. In such cases, the relationship shall be allowed to remain in effect, so long as it is deemed not to be a hindrance to consensus, by the local consensus caucus, in the coupled pair's home jurisdiction. When any coupled pair is deemed in violation of the first law, said partnership shall be immediately dissolved and the caucus of their home jurisdiction shall reassign living arrangements, and property as they deem fit. Any couple thus separated and coming back together, for any but a caucus approved purpose, will be deemed in violation of the first law.

7. Murder must only be carried out with a consensus decree. To end a life, even by accident, otherwise is a violation of the Covenant of Consensus. Anyone who causes the death of another human, without benefit of a murder decree, will face tribunal in their local jurisdiction's consensus caucus. Anyone found to have purposely, or negligently have caused a death, shall be confined to their own Stead, until such time as the Caucus deems them to no longer be a threat to others. Anyone, who with malice and forethought, causes an unsanctioned death will be placed in immediate, life long stasis. Would be murderers must apply to their home jurisdiction caucus, and the cause for aforementioned murder must be deemed in compliance with the covenant of consensus. The method of such murder must be as humane as possible, and shall also be determined by the caucus. Any murder decree not carried out within the caucus' predetermined time frame, shall be considered null and void.

8. Factual accounting being the foundation for trust, and deemed essential to the establishment and maintenance of consensus, any human above the age of fourteen years, believed to share nonfactual information, with intent, shall be deemed in violation of the first law. Upon accusation by a member of the home jurisdiction caucus of consensus, in good standing, the accused Liar shall face a tribunal to determine their guilt or innocence. Those found guilty will be deemed in violation of the first law. Those found innocent will be held as such and reinstated to their position in the community and within the caucus of consensus.

9. Property, being apportioned to each dwelling group by consensus of the local caucus of each home jurisdiction, shall be considered for all intents and purposes, to rightfully belong to the individual, or dwelling group it is assigned to, and to no other, unless and until it is reassigned. Anyone found in possession of property not directly apportioned to them, shall be asked to give account of the method of obtaining said property. Those unable to give adequate account, shall be considered in violation of the first law. No property may be transferred, except through allotment by the local jurisdiction caucus.

10. Consensus being the sole purpose, aim and goal of human society under this covenant, all ideas, inventions, creations, technological advances and developments of new methods, or systems, shall belong: first to the caucus of the home jurisdiction of the originator of said idea or advancement, then to the covenant body as a whole. No individual shall be permitted to unduly profit, or gain from their ideas, inventions and methods of advancement, such profiting being antithetical to consensus. Anyone found to have profited from said ideas and inventions, shall face a caucus tribunal, and if found guilty, shall be considered to be in violation of the first law.

11. In accordance with the eighth law, personality and genetic re-engineering are forbidden for members of the Covenant. Any human who does not maintain a single identity, with minor adjustments as needed for improved consensus, shall be deemed in violation of the eighth and first laws. Individuals proven to have changed their identities to avoid tribunal, or stasis, shall immediately be placed in stasis, with no hope of awakening.

12. No law, code of conduct, or rule may be established, except as in accordance with the Covenant of Consensus, and the Twelve Laws. Any human, or cooperative group of humans deemed to have established such law, shall be subject to murder decree upon the covenant consensus of their home jurisdiction's findings, without tribunal, provided evidence of said laws, and enactment may be given.
