Steemit, a new race! Hello everybody!

Hello, world!
I’m Manuel, 24 years old, and I was born in Naples, Italy. Now I live in Pescara, a beautiful beach town to where my parents moved because of work when I wasn’t even born.
Intrigued by this new social network, I have decided to sign up, even if I am not a good reader let alone a good writer, but you can always try, right? As a beautiful song once said, “If you never try, you never know”

I study Language Mediation at the University of Pescara (English and Spanish as languages): I have always been attracted by how a message can sound different between different languages, by how our language can influence our personality and our thoughts. I grew up with English.

Who remembers the first Windows 95 PCs? I was about 3-4 years old when I first saw the set-up wizards of the first games I ever played (Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Grand Prix 2, Indycar Racing 2) and I read some words like “Next”, “Finish”. What it’ll mean? That mechanism of association between what I read and the function of the button got my interest and I started to study English since when I was a kid.

This thanks to technology. I started to play with the first PCs from early age, I still remember my explanations to my grandma on how to start the PC to let me play first with the MS-DOS games (oh, the format C:) and later with the demos of some Italian magazines like The Games Machine. Growing up, I started to assemble some PCs and then I was attracted by the first smartphones (my first one was a 2008 Samsung Omnia), and between 2010 and 2014 I was a tester for Acer for Android Smartphones.

I am also a good sim-racer and I love car games, I have an old 2007 Logitech G25, after some cheap wheels (who remembers the legendary Momo Racing?). On PSX1 and PS2 I played all the Gran Turismo saga, while on PC F1 Challenge, rFactor, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, GTR1 and 2, GPL. But the first game I have consumed and modded was Grand Prix 2 by Geoff Crammond.

Yeah, motorsport, cars, Formula One, are my other big passion. A passion that I inherited from my father, always a tifoso for Ferrari and who lived the golden era of this sport cheering first for Ronnie Peterson, then for Gilles Villeneuve, Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. My name is a tribute to Juan Manuel Fangio, a 5-time F1 World Champion. I love motorsport, my room is full of models, books and objects about F1 & Cars. I also love bikes of course.

As you can see I have a frame of Ayrton Senna, he is my idol since when I was I kid – even if never saw him racing, he had the accident when I was 6 months old. Maybe I’ll talk about it in a post. I have seen all F1 races from 1998 (I think the first one was the legendary 1998 Beligum Grand Prix), and I have an hard drive on which I have collected all F1 races from the 70s to this day (yes, sometimes I rewatch some old race…I know what you’re thinking, but I think I’m not crazy yet…I think).

I also like drawing sometimes: my first drawings as a kid were about…? Cars, of course!

And I like photography, I love landscape photos (especially at sunset, especially with clouds), they give me a sense of relax, of freedom, they make you feel that there is life everywhere.

At home I can’t live without music, I hate silence. Music accompanied my in my entire life, and helped me too: a pair of headphones, and I’m in my world. I listen to everything, with a great mix between past and present. I’m a great fan of Pink Floyd, Genesis, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin and Queen, while for the current group bands I listen to Coldplay (especially the songs before Viva La Vida), OneRepublic, Muse, U2 e The Fray. I don’t like Italian songs very much.

I also follow many TV Series, in these days I watched Black Mirror (watch it!), while I have concluded in these years Breaking Bad, Sherlock, Top Gear (who knew? I still follow The Grand Tour), Merlin, The Vampire Diaries. I also watch The Flash, Arrow, Once Upon a Time and some others. “eng-sub-ita”, obviously!

Being from Naples, I obviously love food!
