What is the Life Relearnt Project?

The Life Relearnt Project is something that has been in the theory stage for a while now and recently I've realised that the Steemit platform offers a chance for me to start making it a reality.

It is my belief that opportunities should be available to all, ranging from the basics of food, water and shelter, to knowledge and education. In addition to this there should be the freedom to choose the way you live, how you are educated and how your children are educated. Many countries may provide a free education system, but there is no choice within that system of how you learn and not everyone is the same.

I hope that the scope of the project will expand in time to encompass ecological regeneration and off grid living opportunities for people from all walks of life. Maybe even escape and recovery for addicts and others struggling with living in the system. However, the 1000 mile journey starts with one step, so I'd like to start small raising funds to support other not for profit organisations and charities who are already making headway.

My first aim is to support causes and content which aligns with our ethos and build this account up in the process. One of the first things I'd like to give support to is Khan Academy. They offer online tuition free to all and currently have something in the pipeline which could be a game changer if they succeed. I'll delve into that more in another post.

Another cause I'd like to start supporting is @familyprotection. They are doing well so far and gaining good momentum, but once they are in a position to be able to start physically assisting families they will need way more behind them.

I know I can't make much of an impact at the moment, so my aim will be to provide what little support I can however I can. Any feedback and recommendations for worthy causes would be very welcome. I know many others are making waves out there and I hope that if we can all start to connect across the world we can make some real changes.

Many thanks for reading and stopping by, every bit of support is valued and appreciated.
With love from us all @minismallholding, running @life-relearnt

I am totally game, I already support the @familyprotection it is a great cause, I also strongly believe in teaching single mothers that there is a way to be self sufficient, grow a garden, and make it through the hard times when money is tight. I am an advocate for this way of life having been there did that.

Thank you so much, it means a lot to me.

My sister was a single mother and although I knew it was hard on her it wasn't until Ihad my own children, with the support of my husband, that I had a real inkling of how had it must have been. The family was always there to support her though, but I dread to think how those manage who don't have that support.

Sounds great! You've got my upvote and follow. I'm interested to learn more about Khan! Looking forward to that one. Also, thanks for the info about @familyprotection I didn't know about them!

Thank you. More than glad to have alerted you to family protection. It's something that is close to my heart after my cousin's family have had ins and outs with the foster system.

I admit, I've never really looked into the issues, but as a homeschooling family with non-commercial, non-conformist views (to continually support The System), I've wondered about any targeting of those trying to REALLY teach.

As I see one of the other states really cracking down on homeschooling, it worries me that they'll start targeting homeschooling families. Thankfully my daughters are in their teens now, so if things do turn sour they will be adults by then.

Great initiative. I agree completely that formal education does not fit all children well. SO many are falling through the cracks, or being treated for a range of mental illnesses that exist only because they do not fit the "norm" for formal education, ADD/ADHD being my primary hatred. If the kids are distracted, maybe it is not the right environment for them, but just drug them up and she'll be right mate.

Although I was a high achiever in my grades, I hated school and the people I was forced to interact with. Especially after having 3 years of Correspondence schooling in Solomon Islands for the end of year 6 through to mid year 9. When I returned to formal schooling, I had done all the work as it turns out, to carry me through the next year and a half without any extra study. I finished year 10 and learned nothing more than I knew going into it. Waste of time.

All causes start with just a little push, you may not think you are making an impact, but just spreading the message is a huge step. Look at Jesus and Ghandi for example.

I'm with you on the ADD/ADHD. let's be honest, how normal is it for a child to sit still! My youngest will be doing head stands and all sorts while I read to her and when I ask her what just happened she'll repeat it all back to me. Studies have found that children's brains work best while they are active, so fidgeting is quite normal.

My eldest is similar to you. She was bored to tears at school. So I homeschooled them for completely different reasons each. Here are my daughters' school experiences if you're interested: https://steemit.com/homeschooling/@minismallholding/why-we-homeschool

Thank you for your support and encouragement. I really appreciate it.

I am following that blog. Thanks for the link. I read the other day about the schooling experience.

👍 It was good to hear that someone else had the same troubles with school as my daughter. I think if you're academically inclined it's assumed you'll be fine I the school system, but this isn't always the case. You do better when you're inclined to be a rule follower.

That's what schooling has become. Nothing to do with academia, just making sure they churn out good little robot citizens who obey without question and are willing to become good little wage slaves who do not question the status quo.

Wow, that's how you make an entrance!

Welcome to steemit
You have my full attention, and support!

Bless.

Thank you. I think I just blushed a bit!

I have been humbled by the support I'm getting. I fully expected to be on my own until I proved myself, but I was determined to give it my best shot.

I don't know if we can make a difference, sometimes it seems like an impossible task, but we won't know if we don't try and it's got to be worth trying.

Hey @minismallholding / @life-relearnt,
Happy to support in any way I can :) I'm also keen on getting more involved with @familyprotection, they are doing really important things and as you said it'll be a great day when they can help families outside of Steemit!
Congratulations on taking the leap and persuing your passions. It's great for all involved when your passions help others!
Much love, @amymya

Sometimes you can feel so helpless so it helps me personally, if only for my own peace of mind, to feel like there is something I can do even of it's only miniscule. Maybe one day it can be more than miniscule, but I'll take what I can get.

@familyprotection are doing an amazing job at showing the darker side of a protection system that is going wrong. I so want to see them reaching a point where they can start to help with intervention too.

Thank you for your support, it means a lot to me.

I've heard about khan and think what they do is great. I'll be right here supporting your efforts with my upvotes whenever I can :)

Thank you, I really appreciate it.
