Liberty Luke - I'm building the young libertarian movement in the United Kingdom

Hi fellow Steemit members :) My name is Liberty Luke, and I'm building the young libertarian movement in the United Kingdom. (Below is a video showing our efforts to promote freedom on campus despite the literal aggression of regressive left).

I passionately believe in free market economics and minimal state invention. You can see me here with Mark Littlewood of the Institute of Economic Affairs at the Europe Liberty Forum, where I went to learn about running a think tank. I am interested in localism, Bitcoin, drug law reform, proportional representation, and stopping the sugar tax.

The political climate is dominated by statism, such as that of the regressive left, and the true meaning of liberalism has been lost. University campuses have become aggressive places where there is no free speech, no search for truth that John Stuart Mill spoke of, but "no platforming" policies banning mainstream political speakers. I myself have received death threats for not supporting the Corbynista movement.

Nonetheless, the public demand for liberty is not reduced. Libertarians spearheaded the movement for Brexit; it was Friedman who criticised the existence of a centralised European bank that results from the existence of the EU and also we called for government to be accountable, in line with the spirit of the famous Bruges Speech; the state should be rolled back. It was a fight of the people, grassroots activists, against the wealth and machinations of the established, but this year we won. Further, I am proud to be building the broadchurch non-partisan Young Britons for Liberty movement (www.younglib.com) on campus and beyond. We take our name from Hayek’s Constitution of Liberty, and we share his desire for minimal state intervention. We seek to identify, educate and mobilise young activists (aged 35 and younger) interested in the traditional British concept of liberty, which is based on the writings of Locke, John Stuart Mill and Hayek. These ideas of individual rights led to Magna Carta, the end of the slave trade, and women’s rights. We promote secularism, tolerance, private property rights, free market economics, and the non-aggression principle.
