Writing about cultural theory, decentralized networks, and the responsibility of humanism

Birth name: Collin McClain.

My handle (@lavitadellarosa = The Life of the Rose), illustrates my way of seeing, my unique perspective. It doesn’t matter to me what you do for a living. Rather, what matters to me is, what gets you up in the morning. What drives you to be a better person and to better the world around you? What is it that makes you feel alive? I want to show you what gives me life. I want to join you, to better the world around us.

I intend to focus my writings here on the subjects of culture, politics, economics, and philosophy. I am greatly interested in decentralized networks, self-sovereignty, emergence, and the nature of humanity. A few big questions for me lately have been: How do we use globalization as a positive force, promoting diversity instead of homogenization? How can we use new technologies to better society, approaching our relationship with technology from a humanist perspective? What are the most effective ways we have to create equality and equity between all individuals in this network we call earth?

These of course are just some of the thoughts and subjects that will be touched on, and I hope you can bear me diverging. I might also share some of my photography which focuses mostly on music and culture. It is both a dear passion and, I hope, an interesting perspective on the moments captured; cultures steeped into each frame. (You can see my photographic work at lavitadellarosa.com)

Posting may be intermittent. I would prefer to work up larger thought pieces to share with you all and to invite discussion, rather than focus on daily posts. My main mission here is to ask questions and bring my thoughts to the community; opening discussions for development, getting feedback on concepts, and building stronger foundations for others to stand on.

I am looking forward to meeting the community and opening a dialogue.
