Hi Everyone!

My name in Sean and I am going to be doing a some awesome blogging here! I'm a data analyst and writer for our tech blog at Periscope Data (a data analysis and visualization startup in Silicon Valley) where I focus on topics like setting up databases or doing text analytics in SQL on Trump's tweets.

My background is primarily in digital marketing and business analytics, but I love writing. I am really excited to join steemit and try out some new things. So what am I interested in?

2 topics, and 1 goal.

The First Topic—Cryptos

Cryptos first, of course—we all love them and it brought a lot of us together, after all. I want to take a look at some of the crypto projects out there, and examine them from a critical perspective looking for good value. Join me if you want to go hunting for projects together. I have a background in evaluating and helping projects, and a pretty good nose for bullshit in the start-up world.

I also want to start a token and have an ICO. If you groaned, I expected that—seeing as I have no credibility and everyone is trying to raise 5 million dollars doing the same.

I am going to approach the project from a different perspective. I am not trying to create a revolutionary new network that will change the world. I think cryptos can be used for small projects too. Something that expects to get 5 dollars from a user, and hopes to provide 5 dollars worth of fun. I want to build the crypto equivalent of a mobile game.

I do a lot of writing using detailed, code based examples and I will document the journey to get to a simple token and ICO, and tell you what it took to get it done. So follow along if you think you might want to build a token too.

Some Politics

I am also going to dabble in political discussion. I love to talk about politics and, of course, can't really write about it on a company blog about analytics, so steemit will give me the opportunity to share some thoughts. I follow a third way political train of thought. Trump is insane, and I'm not thrilled with the Democrats either.

I focus mostly on foreign policy, so if you want to talk about the rise in accusations of terrorism against Qatar, our position in Syria or what North Korea has been up to I'd love for you to join me. I'd also love to get some freewheeling discussions going so I don't have to bother my friends to get my fix.

And That Goal

I want to become a better writer! I have recently moved from doing full time analytics to doing a decent bit of writing, and I need to practice! Mostly, I need to learn how to take a more friendly and conversational tone—I tend towards a pretty rigid writing style and I need to learn to listen up. I would love to get your feedback!
