RE: Hello Steemit! My name's Isabel and I'm from Venezuela

Hey, izzy. Glad you've decided to give Steemit a try and I hope you have a good experience here.

You said that you're studying accounting, I'm curious if you're at all interested in cryptocurrency? (Not trying to shill, lol)

I've read that many Venezuelans are using Bitcoin to hedge against the devaluation of the Bolivar. Is this common or just hype?

And, if you care to comment on it, what do you think of the situation with Maduro and the petro-backed crypto he was promoting?

I'd love to hear the thoughts on these subjects from a Venezuelan whose education is similarly focused.

Hey @kangarooninja thanks so much, I really hope so too!

Well I'm actually really interested in cryptocurrency but I don't know a lot about it, still a newbie on the subject jajaja.

About Venezuelans using the bitcoins, indeed there are many of us that use bitcoins, but (as far as I know) is not so common, most of the people keep using dollars to protect their savings from the constant devaluation of the Bolivar. I think that maybe in a near future, as the bitcoins gets to be more known here (meaning everything that involves, not only what it is), there would be more people that will use them as an option.

In the case of the Petro, I'm totally against it, it's not properly implemented with a nonsense value made up by government and I don't think this Crypto Petro will be the great solution to stop the devaluation of the Bolivar that they say it is, just another way to pretend that things here are getting the perfect solution (which is not the case at all), and that we should be happy with everythig they are giving to us (which is nothing but a big present of problems).

I'm more than glad to share my thoughts and opinions about it, and hopefully once I get more knowledge about the cryptocurrency I'll be able to give better opinios :)

Your perspective is very interesting, thanks for replying. I've been watching and passively learning about crypto for years and have only recently become more serious about it. I've found that the more I learn the more I realize just how much there is to learn on the subject. It is truly vast in scope, but well worth learning about.

One of the most interesting things that I've learned so far is how countries who have unstable currencies may wind up having an extremely large impact on the future of crypto. It's easy for merchants and consumers in places like the US and Europe to simply do business in cash/debt/credit, they don't have the pressing issue of currency instability to cause them to consider adopting any alternatives. I think that people in places like Venezuela are going to be the trend setters of the new global economy.

I'm going to follow you. I think that hearing from individuals in places like Venezuela is more valuable than what we get from the media here. I hope to see a lot more from you. We're living in interesting and exciting times. It's going to be fascinating to see how the power of economic influence will shift and play out over the coming years. I hope it works out well for you!

It's a pleasure for me to share my thoughts, thanks to you for showing interest! I understood your point about how countries with unstable economies could affect the future of the crypto and I agree with you. If the use of cryptocurrencies in countries like mine gets popular enough, people will begin to change from dollars to crypto, because it's easier to get them.

However, let me remark that I don't think this Petro will be what causes this, yous should know this government have never implemented something that is a real solution. But hopefully this will bring the people to the world of crypto and a future government could do a more serious thing in this matter.

And yeah, of course, it's always better to get info from first hand than watching it from media. Again thanks for your interest and I'll follow you too. I enjoyed talking about it with you, also thanks for your good wishes!

Likewise, I look forward to your future posts.
