Hello, Steemit.

My wife and I are market farmers. We have been farming for six years and although farming has many challenges, we think farming is great. We love the lifestyle and we want to share our journey with you.

When we started farming we had no idea what we were doing. We'd had a successful garden and we thought how hard could farming be? Turns out scaling from a garden to a farm is not easily done. That said, it is possible, and with hard work and passion and a willingness to grow (pun not intended) we now make our living off our land (sometimes being totally naive is a great thing). Long story short, we've made many mistakes over the years and now we thought we'd share what we've learned with you.

We hope for our posts to be useful not only to those who'd like to make money growing food but also useful to any homesteader or home gardener.

If there is anything you'd like to know, ask us in comments below. We'll do future posts about it.

Also if you have any advice about how to use steemit, please help. We are good growers but tec-dummies.

Thank you so much,
we are excited to be here.

Wow, thank you so much everyone for all the great comments and up votes too, so cool. We feel so welcomed. and we are very excited to be here. Steemit is a special place isn't it? One of the things that has been hard for both Katie and I moving to the country was leaving all our friends and community in the city. Feels like we might have found something here.

cute boy.

He's a goof, making a silly face here. Great help around the farm (sometimes)

Do you have chickens? I love chickens.

Yes, we have a small flock of chickens and also ducks. Ducks are great, we love them, great eggs and they are also great at keeping the slug populations down

yea, keep it real, its a self regulating community

Dion, Katie, and Wesley welcome to steemit. I will follow your blogg i am very interested on living sustainably and organic. Food is the best medicine.

Thank you. Yes, food is, we wholeheartedly agree. If you have any questions about our life and farming? please ask. Farming is great and the truth is it has its ups and downs, but mostly ups and we love it. Thanks for the follow

Yep the mindset is most important and if somting is too easy it become boring :). So ye it is how it is .

Welcome to steemit. Looking forward to hearing about your farming journey. Hope you like it here. Lots of nice people. 🐓🐓

Welcome! Looking forward to reading more about your experiences.

Welcome to Steem. Great work currently I am saving for some land so I can follow suite. Looking forward to some tips :)

Right on! Is there anything you are interesting in knowing about?

Well loads currently I am attempting to grow in pots but we have had so much rain it appear pointless at the moment!

When I worked at the information and help desk at a garden center, a man came in who was growing an unbelievable selection of vegetables IN POTS! He wanted help transitioning to in ground growing. We were so impressed with what he was accomplishing in pots, we told him not to worry, and he would do well. Gardening in pots is great training. Remember: Many crops start out with a potted plant. When you are farming, your "starts" are very important. You want strong healthy plants with 100% potential.
Keep going. Your way of starting works. That's how I started, 46 years ago, because I lived in an apartment. You will connect with the plants and tune into their needs. If a farmer doesn't have that, they shouldn't be farming!

Thanks for your wise words. Currently I am save tin cans and the like to get things rolling not keep on buy loads of plastic pot. Skips and upcycling is going to be my way. Just hope ti all works :)

You are my first "FOLLOW". I am so excited to hear more about your farming and maybe share what part of the country you are in.

Thanks. We are on the west coast of Canada
