Introduction Post

Hi Steemit-ers -ians -es.... well I'll figure that part out in time I suppose.

I'm Graeme, an Artist, Designer, and Gallerist based in Toronto, Canada.

I own/ operate an art gallery called #Hashtag Gallery which provides an affordable, accessible space for emerging artists. We also focus on street art/urban art, and have a roster of emerging and mid-career artists which we promote year round.

In the art side of things, I've most recently been focusing on painting as a way to get away from the computer screen now and then, and make something with my hands and not a mouse. The work combines the flat vector style of illustration I do on the computer with an abstract look to it.

Currently I'm working on a series of paintings based on my houseplant "Bertie" which is a Monstera Deliciosa which just grows like crazy!

This photo is from an installation at my gallery for our 5 Year Anniversary Show back in April (2017). I have a few more in the series completed now, and a few more sketched out ready to go. I also plan on doing a series of smaller prints based on plants as well, probably 8"x10".

I'm always on the lookout for new places, and groups to get involved with to chat with other artists, and see what people are making!

I'm going to do my best to provide quality content in the posts I put up on here. It's always nice seeing nicely designed, and thought out content. I'm hoping this site will provide that, and not just a bunch of spam posts and memes (nothing wrong with the occasional meme, but too much is a bit overkill).
