He's described sociopathy quite accurately. Everything sociopaths do is a deliberate, intellectual choice, guided by what they've observed other people in society do, because they themselves don't have proper instincts or a moral filter or the ability to empathize.
It's a significant part of the reasons why, by and large, sociopaths cannot plead insanity in a court of law: they know right from wrong.
It's just that, most of the time, they don't care.
This one appears to care, on some level. That happens, too, sometimes.
