Let's talk about sex

My name is Luis Giffoni. I advice people, couples and organizations in the management of their emotions and the process of designing and achieving their goals.

In 15 years of experience in emotional processes managment I have gone from individual psychotherapy to the care of couples, groups and all kind of commercial and non-profitable organizations.

In my experience one of the areas that most concern to people of all ages and conditions is sexuality. Both in individual and couples therapy, issues related to sexuality take the most of the time, atention and questions of my clients. Men and women. And thats because sex is a subject that we were not taught to treat openly.

What do the numbers say?

Studies by social cientist in western countries, agree that our culture is an impediment to the free exercise of sexual life: on average 4 out of 10 sexually active women, pretend orgasms to not make their partners feel bad. Likewise, 6 out of 10 people reveal feeling some level of discomfort when expressing to their partner what they want during sex.

In contrast, the same specialists have found that the experience of allowing oneself to speak openly about sex with a professional and bringing that experience to intimate life is a very positive and surprisingly liberating exercise.

As in any other matter, the practice of sexuality is a resourse for obtaining rewarding emotions. A pleasant sexual life self-affirms us as individuals, gives us a confidence and optimism that positively affects health, family life, job performance and many other areas. As expected, an unsatisfactory sexuality produces the opposite effects.

Additionally, human sexuality is influenced by all the experiences and prejudices that we have accumulated throughout life and that determine how I see myself, how I see my partner, how I communicate and what my expectations are. That's why very frequently the way to find and specific sexual problem, is reviewing our familiar history, school experiences and even political and religious ideas.

So in the following publications we will be talking about sex and emotions in a plain and funny language, without judgments and always trying to provide information of interest for the enrichment of our sexual culture.
