Marco Galvan: sound, music, engineering...
Hi everyone!
I'm Marco and I'm very excited to be a part of this community. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I love music and pretty much everything related to music. Actually, this passion led me to get into many areas related to sound, audio and music production and, well, that's what I do for living.
I was born in Mexico, so I grew up in a very rich, musical environment (does Coco sound familiar? hehe). Since I was a kid I also fell in love with technology. Video games (Atari) were a big part of it. So, computers were also an important part of my life.
There was an important musical tradition in my family. I had the blessing to play, as a kid, with many different musical instruments: marimba, drums, piano, guitar, synthesizer, saxophone... I had a lot of fun and music seemed to be something "natural" to me.
One day I played with a Korg M1 Workstation and wow! that changed my life forever! I was able to "record" (the correct word would be sequence pff!) there my tunes and experiments with different sounds and effects. A few days later I decided that I wanted to be a music producer!
So, when looking for a university, Audio Engineering came to my mind. I studied Electronics Engineering (audio engineering was not a formal degree back then) and music composition and arranging as well.
Since then, I have been involved in pretty much everything related to audio and music production: acoustics, harmony, composition, arranging, improvisation, recording, editing, mixing, mastering, audio gear, systems design, music programming, etc.
As a musician, I play the piano, bass, drums, basic guitar and love to use software like: Logic Pro, Reason, Pro Tools and all that stuff.
I run a music production company: BlueVine Music. I also have many years of experience as an audio and music instructor in different universities. I found that I love teaching as well!
Currently, I'm studying "the ways of the code" haha. I mean, I want to develop software tools for music production and audio teaching. So, I'm starting to get into the developer and algorithmic musician roles.
I know that there may be other music geeks around here and I'll be so happy to share with you, keep in touch!
