A very much delayed intro to @fumansiu

Hi I'm @fumansiu!

I've been steeming since September of 2016 but I haven't ever gotten around to introducing myself... I've made many friends here and many followers enjoy the artwork I post just about every day. I started this blog as a way to keep myself honest and engaged in my own journey into becoming a professional artist. I can say I've had many ups and downs but through it all I have made sure not to quit and to always try and challenge myself.

In some ways I hope that further along on my path I will be able to point here and tell a young aspiring artist that this is what it takes to "get there." I know it sounds cheesy, but I do hope I will be able to help someone start their own journey by making my own public in this way.

I share my life with my beautiful partner Elizabeth who is pursuing a degree in ecology and evolution. Her goal is to contribute to the management and restoration of wetlands along the west coast. She is an incredibly driven and hard working person and she inspires me to follow my own passion with the same fervor.

In our free time we like to take our doggie, Kuma, for hikes around the Santa Cruz mountains and beaches

A lot of the time I will bring along my watercolors and papers so that I can practice while we enjoy the outdoors. One of my favorite things to do is to paint with whatever water is available in nature. If we're at the beach I will run out and fill up my cup with sea water to paint with. When it's raining I like to put my cup out into the rain to collect water to paint with. In this picture I collected river water to paint. I really love that with watercolors, all you need is a little bit of water to rejuvenate the colors and you can get going on a painting. It feels really natural to me and it's compact and easy to carry around with you.

Well that's it! I'm glad I've been able to post as often as I have been lately and I hope to continue the trend. Steemit has a lot of potential and I see how it has enriched people's lives. I've been getting great photos to paint from by users here like @pyrowngs and others, it's exciting to be able to collaborate in that way!
