Hey Steemit! : My Welcome Post

Hey Steemit.

I'm eveangel and I'm 20 years old.

I'm a medical school dropout and a prospective mechanical engineering student. But truly my heart is in cryptocurrency, online businesses and travelling the world! I've made so many mistakes so far but I'm learning from them. Steemit will be the place I talk about what I've learnt through experience and where hopefully my fellow Steemians can join the discussion so we can all learn from each other. Life's hard enough I think we could all use a helping hand!

I plan to write about life lessons, travel and food, so we'll see how that goes. To kick things off I'll be doing an ongoing review of the book "The Road Less Traveled" by Dr M. Scott Peck. I've only read a few chapters (hence the need for an ongoing book review) and I think it may be the best book I've read in my life so far. We'll discuss it and see what we all think of it and can learn from it. Well thanks for listening (or reading rather) Steemit. I look forward to publishing lots of posts and being an active member of the Steemit community.

    Hi yes I can see you have found the picture I'm using for my profile. I wanted to use my actual picture but I'm not comfortable on Steemit yet. It took me ages just to work up the courage to post despite having joined last year. I just wanted to see how friendly everyone was before putting my actual photo up so I picked a photo that looks similar to me. Sorry for the inconvenience guys. I'll be taking down that pic. Sorry

      Hello eveangel! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

      1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
      2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
      3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
      4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
