Hi Steemit!! Introducing myself: I’m Cristian - 25 yr old vegan cyclist from Chile.

G’day people from Steemit, I came to Australia late 2016 after quitting uni and having a rough couple of years in general. So it was the perfect time for a new start. I fell in love with this country, its clean streets, fresh air, beautiful neighbourhoods and the people.

A lot of things have happened in the last year. I left my home country to start living on my own for the first time, came to Australia, got into cycling again and made a lot of friends. I consider myself an introvert and so making friends is always hard for me, and because I’m not super fluent in English I can get really nervous when meeting new people. I am really happy because I overcame that and made really good relationships.

A few things about me, I went vegan about two years ago and before that I was a pescatarian for four years. Going vegan is without a doubt one of the best things I’ve done in my life, but ill write more about that later.
I have been riding bikes ever since I was young, but only came across road and track cycling when I was 19 years old. My favourite part of riding is descending down hill. I love going fast and just fooling around on my bike! I raced for 3 years and stopped for a while but now I want to start racing again and get as fit as I can.

I’m going back to Chile in a couple weeks, and just thinking about that makes me feel sad. Australia feels like home to me. I’ve never had many friends and throughout my life it has been difficult to connect with people. I found that connection here. I learnt a lot this past year and I’m looking forward to applying these things in Chile. I want to start a community of vegan cyclists in Santiago and show on social media how great a vegan lifestyle can be. I want to create content both in Spanish and in English so I can reach a wider spectrum of people. That’s all for now, see you in the next post!
