My Self Introduction Post | How I Taught Myself to Draw in Photoshop.
My first post here. I want to tell you a little bit about myself and what drawing means to me. (misty eyes warning)
I've never had much of a talent for anything, but have always had this burning desire to be good at something. And tried different things... kept trying, but there was always this problem that whatever I tried I wasn't going to be able to make a living out of it unless.
Unless, I was number one. You know that's a tall order, though, I didn't lack the dedication. Maybe it was talent, mental capacity or something else. I was always sub par. I gathered that in order to go the distance I must do something I really believe in so that every little bit of progress I make was going to keep me out of the dark.
I started drawing roughly 3 years something ago. And I mean drawing, really grinding hard every day. Really working my fingres to the bone. The grind was unreal, and I was still nowhere even close to being called 'an artist'. That was a title I could not accept. I started drawing monochrome because color was just beyond my understanding at that point.
Haha forget about color, I wasn't even able to find and create clean shapes. I was too light on the highlights areas but the good part was my drawings were showing some volume. I knew it would be better if I started using color. I didn't want to go there but I knew this is the way to grow. My first colored artworks were bound to look flat and murky because I wasn't yet introduced to the color theory.
And so I started loosley basing my shadowing technique on what I think I knew about the color theory and the result was always something between the Joker and an unskillfully saturated with color portrait. Duh...
I had drawn things that I like thought. Like this portrait of me and my girlfriend. There was hope after all. What I can tell you is that if you put your mind, skill, and heart in something you will succeed in the end.
Enought with the pep talk haha. I don't want to drag this out too much. Long story short, now I am drawing k-pop stars, the likes of Lisa and Rose (Blackpink). All the wonderful imagery here I took from my Instagram gallery. Here's my latest thing.
