Not making money like you though you would? |Content or contact | originality vs. networkingsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hey! greetings to all steemland dwellers. I especially want to greet the new members who decided to try steemit out, you're all awesome!
Now figuring what steemit is really about is a bit of a hassle, we are encouraged to post original content with promises of rewards for our efforts. What we aren't told is that your posts alone wont be pushing you anywhere.

See steemit depends on a voting system to help push that precious steem dollars high, having a high reputation is one sure way of having a high voting power and while i do agree it is a bit one sided (one steemwhale vote easily surpasses at least 10 dolphins votes),I believe its another way of rewarding loyal members. The more you vote however, the lesser your voting power, the less your vote counts ,it takes some time for your voting power to rise back to 100%

  • Tip:you can check out your voting power at steemd.com

The mainconcept of steemit is structured like a community, I have seen posts with nothing but 4 lines of words having a high cash count and comments.

Unfortunately, making original posts may be easy, but being in sync with the community is not.
The absolute best way to view your experience in steemit is not to see it as an avenue for making money(topic to be treated in another post), but a new way to interact with other authors and content creators in a structured community.

At the end of the day, you may posts whatever you love to talk about, but you need to realise that unless your posts are interesting enough to be voted by whales or other top members, you probably wont make much from them.

Contribute, communicate and associate with the community!, that's the best way to go in steemit!

also don't forget to vote for to steemit in the twitter BTCC war currently on!

Steemit can be a little intimidating for anyone new to the site... so many different terms like Steem, Steem Power, SBD etc. to wrap their heads around. I agree with you though that it will all take care of itself as new users familiarize themselves with the system.

ahh yes, it took me some time to get the system mapped out, another thing though, is the ''get rich quick through steemit'' idea some people have, we have many dormant accounts because these people didn't get the concept of steemit.

Hey!
I am new, so this was a great article for me to read!
Thanks!

glad it was helpful
Acrobatics eh, bet you could do 50 wall flips in one go!

hahah only on a trampoline and maybe not 50. That would be very impressive!
I mainly pick people up and flip them ;)

Being a noob myself, any and all articles that give constructive advice are welcomed.

I've only been on steemit a week, but I've slowly been figuring this out. This should be helpful to lots of other new users. I followed you, follow back if you're os inclined

ha, following back already, i did take a month off steemit, basically the whole of April, during that time i figured out the ins and outs , as well as some lovely websites connected to steamit.

Nice to have you on board! Follow me at https://steemit.com/@bitgeek
