People tend to choose the path of least resistance. That's why people choose socialism even though history has proved that it is a failure time and time again. Socialism disincentivizes productivity, if you consume more than you produce, you'll eventually kill each other off until the rate of consumption and production reach an equilibrium. However, if no one produces and people only consume, the human race will become extinct.
