My girlfriend had similar stories of having to lie about how much she read and being scolded by teachers for reading too much outside of the classroom. I remember pretending I didn't know the answer to questions because I didn't want to be a know it all outcast. It's hard to feel shortchanged when I've been lucky enough to get every opportunity possible, but I can't help but think all 3 of us grew up a generation too early, and I wish it was cooler to be a nerd when I was 7 than it was back then.
Any favorite stories you've written that we should read?
