My book of inspiration - the Bhagwad Gita
Religion is the iron frame of our life. A man of religious mind has a great sense of duty and discipline. He is not selfish and narrow minded like the people who do not believe in religion. It is always good to have some religion, whether one is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian or Buddhist. Every religion is good. It keeps us on the straight path of duty to God and humanity. In order to understand a religion properly, we should understand its scriptures properly. Scriptures are religious books in which the principles and teachings of a particular religion can be found.
My favorite religious book is the Bhagwad Gita. I get a lot of inspiration from the Bhagwad Gita. It gives me great help to my trials, troubles and tribulations. It is a great medicine for the sick soul in the sick world. It is an episode from the Mahabharata. Arjuna is unhappy because he has to fight against his own kins in the battle of Mahabharata. He does not want to kill them so he seeks advice from Lord Krishna in this regard. Lord Krishna says to him,"why are you feeling dejected in the performance of your duty? It is disgraceful, contrary to duty and the foundation of dishonor. Abandon the weakness of your heart, stand up and fight."Lord Krishna tell him and us that everybody should do their duty in this world, whether it is good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant, without expecting rewards. Those who are wise in spiritual things do not grieve for death. They are only bound for their duties towards the world and themselves.
Beings are nourished by food, food is nourished by rain, rains comes from sacrifice and sacrifice is performed by the actions. Therefore perform your actions at all times unmindful of the results and fruits of the action. The Man who does that which he has to do becomes one with the supreme God. He is far above the world. He gets liberation and he becomes free from all the troubles and tribulations once and forever. Therefore, we should control ourselves and devote ourselves to the performance of our duties.
