Now that I have your attention....

Hi Steemers! Hello to all my followers so far. Thank you for sticking with me :) I hope at least my three kitties will prove that it was worth it :)

I would like to officially introduce myself and tell you a little bit about myself so that you can see the girl behind the curtain. :)

I will also tell you about my plans for steemit (ergo what I can bring to the community) and about my cats (how could I miss them!).

Me in Russia

First off, I am a qualified English Teacher. I've taught in three countries now, mostly adults. Just to be clear,  I teach English as a Foreign Language so I know the ins and outs of English Grammar and other not so simple English stuff. :) I worked in two public high schools in Poland  before moving to Moscow,Russia where I lived for two years.

It was a great experience although not at all easy... I worked split shifts, traveled hours every day on the metro, and dealt with many locals (encounters not always pleasant).

I did, however, gain a ton of experience and met wonderful, wonderful students.

Oh, this is me, by the way...

And me with some of my students:

Life in Moscow taught me many things: it was weird, it was frustrating, it was exhilarating, it was eye opening.
I would like to start a mini memoir and post it in parts here on Steemit. Trust me! you will laugh, open your eyes in disbelief, and occasionally face palm  :)

Me in England

Let's move on...

Straight from Moscow my BF and I moved to England. Now that was an adventure as well...

I didn't really experience any culture shock in Russia, but boy oh boy what I discovered in the UK... That's another memoir right there... The politeness, kindness and tolerance  vs. laziness, sloppiness and chaos.

I taught in a college. All of my students were immigrants from various backgrounds.

Initially it was tough.

I had to change my teaching mindset completely.

 I could not assume anything.

Every lesson was a challenge, surprise, and huge eye-opener.

Me at my "hot desk":

My various students and I:

If you would like to hear some stories on my life in England or England vs Russia let me know in the comments for sure!

Me back in Poland

After living abroad for almost 4 years, it was time to come back. my BF and I returned to Kraków where I opened a one-person company (I'm like a "business woman" now) . For the last seven months I have been teaching English in various companies (to employees). I'm kind of specializing in Business English now even though I think it is quite boring and you cannot really go crazy with it... :)

I now officially have three cats. So Freddie and Kruger (long story of names) live with me, and Machoosh (got him while still at university -  my first kitty ever!) lives with my folks. I love them all and cannot imagine my life without them. Freddie is an English cat, Kruger was bought in Poland, Machoosh was adopted from a shelter (how we got him is another heart-warming story).

I also love food, especially sushi. I love travelling, I listen to Oldies :) But I like new stuff as well...

As you can probably tell by now - I am a crazy woman!

I have a huge passion for English and try to spread it like a disease :).

My posts on Steemit are going to be connected with my area of expertise (#languages).

I will also post stories on my life in Russia (#story, #travel)

READ THE PREAMBLE OF MY MEMOIR HERE

READ PART 1 HERE -> SURVIVING ON THE METRO

I have already written two articles in #languages (right click below, if you're interested)

1) Why shouldn't you use google translate for learning English and which dictionaries are far better

2)  How to learn vocabulary effectively in any language!

More to come! so please follow me @cwbrooch if you like what you're reading so far.

I also appreciate your feedback, so please comment on anything you like.

Stay strong Steemers! And another Kitty photo to make you want to come back... :)
