A Bitcoin Enthusiast Joining The Steem Community
Hello All,
My name is Mark and I hail from the great state of Montana, USA! I’ve been involved in the Bitcoin scene since the early 2000s and I probably know a tiny more than most and not nearly as much as some. I’ve created my own coin on a test net including creating a genesis block, wallet and blockchain explorer which is somewhat of an accomplishment. I also have advance Linux admin skills, OS X, Windows, various database and blah, blah blah, etc…
I’ve taken about a one year break from the scene as I have had to deal with a disability and am now permanently disabled and am now on a VA disability pension. I was looking to get back into Bitcoin and Altcoin mining and trading but have little capital (money) and have just discovered Steem and this seems like a perfect way to get things going again.
I have been looking over this coin for a few days and have read the white paper once and it is definitely different than any crypto coin ever built. I’m looking to become as familiar as possible with it and get involved, not only on the content creation side (blogging, voting, etc), but on the mining, trading and more technical matters.
I hope to bring value to the community and I probably will be asking quite a few questions and may be able to answer a few down the road.
Cheers,
Mark
Welcome to Steemit! I have some coin ideas but no tech savvy. I reside in South Dakota. I have been looking at the NXT platform where you can build a coin on their platform. would like to create a safe retirement fund that the gummint cant steal for contractors.
Practically neighbors. I know Ethereum is the hot and trendy thing but it is pretty simple. You might also look at Colored Coins, http://coloredcoins.org/ The big advantage is that it uses the Bitcoin Blockchain which ultimately is going to be more secure and "everlasting". The jury is still out on NXT and ether, but both seem to be doing pretty good. I like using https://coinmarketcap.com/ to see how coins are doing in general.
I will look into that. you are right Bitcoin is the grandfather I like the proof of stake that NXT uses though they have had their issues within the community they seem to be focused now . I am still a little Leary of Etherum. and yes coinmaket cap is where I go to twice a day to see where they all are.
welcome.. cheers too
Thanks for the welcome oneyesoneno. :)
Hey Mark,
Nice meeting. Feel free to check out equibit.org and my post about it. You might find that interesting.
